#55602 French

Posted by Epic?OhYes on 26 September 2013 - 04:08 PM in Everything Else

I just kind of need to rant. You know when you are really into something and then there are no opportunities to do anything fun with it? Legit I speak French and I really want it to get better and stuff.... I have been there a lot when I was younger since it isn't that far from England. Sadly here there is literally no where to go, Yeah I speak it with my sister.. but it is so annoying... I talk to people online and that's about it. My French Teacher honestly isn't that great and she only teaches grammar, plus French club.. we haven't done anything and it really ticks me off. Dx Any suggestions of what I can do? I don't know. *rages

P: Sympaaaa!!

I could understand some of that! Those six years forced to learn french in school worked! ... Somewhat.

I guess I have a somewhat similar problem? I've been studying Japanese in my spare time for 9 months now, but I've focused too much on reading and writing. Now I really think I could benefit from some speaking and listening practice but I'm much too shy to go looking for a Japanese friend to speak to, and too afraid to even try speaking for fear of failing badly. I'm assuming I'll get over it eventually when my desire to get better overcomes that fear.

I have a friend in my class who speaks English, Spanish, and French. He once told me his English and Spanish are great, but he's really rusty at French because he only really uses it with his neighbours at home. If you don't use it, you lose it, I guess.

Haha, yeah it kind of sucks.

Oui , Oui!! Je sais que Super Junior! Je ecoute a la Kpop musique. ( a la ou le? Je ne sais pas. <.< ) Oui, je habite en Ohio. Et toi? Je beaucoup voyage, ma mere est anglaise. ;~; J'ai dormir. Bonne nuit. Pm moi pour demain?

#55684 Babies

Posted by Epic?OhYes on 28 September 2013 - 10:38 PM in Everything Else

Literally I am usually the person to not give a crap about anyone or their feelings... but I have realized babies are my weak point. Mostly when they are adorable around 5months onwards. Babies usually always like me right away, but THEY ARE SOOOO CUTE. I just wanted to talk about it since I babysat the most precious 9 month year old while my sister and the babie's mother were moving to this new house. Anyone else like this?

#57273 I need some motivation...

Posted by Epic?OhYes on 11 November 2013 - 02:08 PM in Everything Else

High School.. I can't even deal with it anymore. I know tons of people go through the same thing. I am going to be out of it really soon, 1 more school year after this one.. but I just can't stand it. It's not like I am bullied or anything bad happens there, it is just the most boring place ever. I get straight A grades, and all I do the entire time is sleep in class. My grades are slipping this quarter, but I still have 7 weeks to bring them up. I just can't anymore.. I LOVE to learn and get educated, but I hate school. My mom was going to home school me next year, but what's the point when I only have my last year left.

I just need some motivation to think of. Please help!

#59089 Bonjour! Hola! As-salamu alaykum! (Languages)

Posted by Epic?OhYes on 12 December 2013 - 09:58 PM in Everything Else

I was wondering if anyone else on this forum is really intrigued by languages. I mean, they are soo interesting. The only other person I really know who also finds the way people talk and cultures really cool is my sister haha, maybe since our parents had us travelling since we were really young. Does anyone else share this trait with me? I was wondering if you guys wanted to talk and stuff! Right now I speak English (Duh.) , and a bit of French. I really want to learn Farsi, Wolof, and Arabic. I study Korean alongside my French so I am going to focus on those for now though. lol

#59251 Bonjour! Hola! As-salamu alaykum! (Languages)

Posted by Epic?OhYes on 13 December 2013 - 10:16 PM in Everything Else

Hmmm, Today I went with my sister to a museum tour that was completely in French, everyone of course was much better than me, but I was catching up with help from my sister. Another language I can understand is Afrikaans , but I can't speak it. My mom spoke it to me as I was younger.. It is hard to find people around here that speak Farsi or Wolof so those two are pretty difficult. As for Korean, I go to a mainly Korean Church were the whole thing is held in Korean , but since I am younger I go to the Youth group with all my Korean-American friends who aren't that good at Korean. We have 4 our classes on Fridays and Sunday after service. I find the church really unique since even though it is "Korean" there are different nationalities that come to learn. Since it is such a diverse environment it is really amazing since we can all question each other about the languages we know!  Languages are so funnn!

#59298 Bonjour! Hola! As-salamu alaykum! (Languages)

Well I usually pick up languages really fast because I am more visual. Usually I listen to music at first, watch shows in that language and start to emerge myself in it and listen to people speaking it, you don't just want to learn the language, you should learn the culture also.  After that I learn simple words that are usually needed like apple and stuff. Little words, then I post notes around the house and whenever I go to that item I say the word in whatever language it is in. Then I move into grammar and structure, learn where everything goes, form sentences and stuff. While still doing all the other stuff. I then start reading books meant for children and little things. It is great to have a penpal to help you. Basically I start out how a baby would, listening to everything, learning simple words, playing games, then grammar structure. Buttt, if you are learning multiple languages at a time I would suggest 2 completely different languages to start off with and to not try to learn more than 2 at a time. For say, I wouldn't want to Learn French and Spanish at the same time because you can get confused since they are both romance languages. Say learn Spanish and Chinese because they are both so different and you won't get them confused. I would suggest at first to learn something really close to English , like... Dutch. Every language usually opens a door to another language. English to Dutch, and if you learn Dutch, it is really simple to learn Afrikaans. You have to practice everyday , but try not to over do it, maybe 30 minutes a day or something. You don't want to just memorize words though, you have to basically become a baby of the language, or at least that is how I learn. lol sorry this is so long.

#60141 CHRISTMAS IS SUCH A GIMMICK

#61503 I am such a huge fail.

Posted by Epic?OhYes on 06 January 2014 - 10:56 AM in Everything Else

Right now I am trapped in an airport because of the storms and stuff and I was suppose to be home yesterday. I just got to my second destination and I had to check my carry-on in since there wasn't any room.... I forgot I had my money, glasses, phone charger all in the bag. I asked if I could get it, but it is going to my final destination and is on its way there now. I am starving, I have 4 hours till my next flight, my phone is on 4%.... Luckily I can keep my laptop alive with the charging area next to me.... I almost forgot to take my tickets out of my checked in bag also, but gladly I grabbed them out. Aish, this is so hard out here for a pimp like me, not to mention they keep changing my gate numbers. V.V

I don't care how embarrassing it may be, but ask someone for money so you aren't starving yourself. Just pick out the most vulnerable of the pack and jump on them!

I am way to awkward for that... I found a bag of stale almonds in my bag.

That sucks. >.<

I'm surprised they don't have phone charging stations as well though.

They do have a charge station, but I don't have my phone charger with me right now.I am currently charging my laptop, but I still have 3 and a half hours until I leave. I am charging my laptop at the station though. P:

What airport are you at?

Dallas International Airport.

These are the reasons I never leave my house.

I know, I am a fool for leaving my protected environment.

Black labrador, possibly mentally retarded >.>

I have a Yellow Lab and he is the same with the leash. We had to get him a harness and now whenever we walk him and he can't pull us he barks while walking. I am pretty sure just the whole breed is failing in the mental department.

If you find a place in there that will let someone pay via credit card over phone I'd be happy to buy you lunch. I assume Pizza Hut would but I can't find a phone number for them online.

lol Nah! I was fine, I am home now and I think I ate the entire house. I almost got frostbite though! I only had a hoodie on and it is -9 degrees where I live and I was not expecting that lol

It's Texas, any native there will buy you lunch.

Texans are scary though.

But when you hungry the struggle is real!

That's the truth.
