I know, I know. I'm being a pooper, but just hear me out.....

 

After working nearly 10 years in retail, Christmas has got to be the worst time of year for people like me.

 

I pack shelves and make em pretty, but customers absolutely obliterate my fabulous merchandising. Hahaha 

 

Not to mention the amount of abandoned trolleys lurking about where people have had enough of waiting and gapped it. 

 

Had a debate yesterday with a gentleman who believed that he should get a Christmas discount with groceries......... The only thing you're entitled to is my foot up your ass old man.

 

Almost saw a fistfight between two customers who were fighting over the last copy of GTA 5. 

 

Christmas used to be cool, up until the age of 12, then you get your 1st job, and you get to see first hand how 'dirty' it can be.....

 

Mind you, Xmas is all about time with your family.... Now that I can condone to.....

 

I guess XMas will become more important to me once i have children.... One day, but for now, Xmas and I are Frienemies...... Hate the time period, love the OT money

Christmas is good when you are young because all ou have to do is go to school and fuck around with your friends, then all of a sudden there is this week where everything stops and your family is all over the place and you get presents just because you exist.

 

Then you grow up, and suddenly you are on the other end of the deal.

You are the one who gets the gifts, organises the events, runs a family, works like mad to make the money so it can all happen.

You step behind the curtain and become the man running the machine, and it is a tough job.

No one likes tough jobs.

 

Yes, Christmas is now a business that exists to turn a profit, but so is every other damn thing out there.

So what is the point in getting all in a huff about it all.

Christmas is for kids. When you get past 16, it's just lame and shit. Unless you have kids of your own, of course.

Honestly I don't feel like Christmas has really changed since I grew up. I mean I have to buy stuff too but I still get surprises which is great.

 

Birthdays on the other hand are very depressing, because it pretty much serves to highlight how little people I actually know.

My parents love to spoil my sister and I on Christmas, but the past couple years I get more fun out of seeing my family open gifts I got for them.

Christmas is whatever you make it. I try to make it about warms, fuzzies and good vibes, but you could make it all about the munny, coins and rupees.

 

Honestly, I find there's a larger problem with Valentine's Day. Why do we have to buy and use cards to tell your loved ones something that you didn't even think up yourself?

You don't? I sent Valentines to loads of people (I guess that'll change now I'm shackled) in the past, but they were all thought up in my head and strictly platonic. It makes me laugh you say Xmas is what you make of it then slate another holiday for the same thing. XD
