#1538 What would you get if you had FIVE HUNDRED DORRAH?

Posted by Aresem on 30 January 2012 - 11:51 PM in Everything Else

I'd make a bunch of impulse buys, some from my thinkgeek list and the rest wherever I see things I want, with little to no thought.

 Nah but really, I'd stick half of it in the bank and spend the other $250 on my thinkgeek list. I've convinced myself that's what fiscal responsibility is, only blowing half your money.

#409 What is your favorite setting?

Posted by Aresem on 16 January 2012 - 12:56 AM in Fantasy

I still haven't gotten around to reading the Dresden Files, and I watched one or two episodes of the show before deciding I really ought to read the books.

DON'T YOU EVER WATCH THAT SHOW AGAIN, FORGET IT AND FORGET EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

SURGICALLY REMOVE THAT PORTION OF YOUR BRAIN BEFORE CONTINUING TO THE BOOKS. Then enjoy :)

#48 What is your favorite setting?

Posted by Aresem on 08 January 2012 - 08:50 PM in Fantasy

My favorite setting is the kind Dresden Files and nWoD are in.

Supernatural fantasy sci-fi (I guess) ;)

#997 What i have to do for progress in tomb rider ?

Posted by Aresem on 23 January 2012 - 05:10 PM in Video Games

...can you rephrase that, with more detail maybe?

#472 What about checkers? <_<

Posted by Aresem on 17 January 2012 - 07:16 AM in Tabletop Games

...my god, it's the best signature ever.

#1861 Well, guess it's official.

Posted by Aresem on 08 February 2012 - 03:16 PM in Hardware

All the receipt says is 1 x Primary hard drive (32M Cache, 1 TB, 7200 rpm, 6.0 GB/s)

I know what "1 TB" means, and that it was the cheapest option for the space I needed. Besides that, no clue. Not much into computers, per se, just the things they can do for me xD

#1857 Well, guess it's official.

Posted by Aresem on 08 February 2012 - 01:05 PM in Hardware

My hard drive has gotten so bad it does its cool clicky death crash on boot up.

OH MAH GOD YOU MEAN CGP WAS WRONG, IT WASN'T THAT I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH RAM? OH GOOD THANKS FOR CLARIFYING, EXPLODED PC xD

No seriously though, I hate computer hardware.

#6 Welcome!

Posted by Aresem on 07 January 2012 - 10:42 PM in Introductions

Well helloooo there. I'm ol' Aresem, we all know that, and I'm a nerd (we also know that)

You can find me all over the pleasure end of the nerd spectrum, which is basically everything but academics.

My biggest, wink wink, nerd trait would have to be my love of the supernatural. I'm into superhero comics, paranormal sci-fi, and all the forms of fantasy flowing out of Tolkiens grave. I'm big into gaming, computer or tabletop, and the second you mention dice I'll be rolling up character sheets.

That's me in a nutshell, you'll figure the rest out as you go ;)

#1609 Watching juice ferment.

Posted by Aresem on 01 February 2012 - 02:55 PM in DIY

I think of Jack Daniels when I hear sour mash.

And there's not much of a guide... it's just a three piece wine airlock in a rubber stopper corked into a 64 oz bottle of white grape juice with 1 cup replaced with a cup of pomegranate juice. Yeast added of course.

I picked up the necessary items from the local party store, they carry home brewing supplies. Got the idea from a kit on thinkgeek, just had to gather the reagents, lol.

#1591 Watching juice ferment.

Posted by Aresem on 01 February 2012 - 11:43 AM in DIY

Pruno? I'm not sure. I do know it's apparently called federweisser in Germany and sturm in Austria, though, lol.

48 hour juiceahol. And yes, I think you're right, it's watching the little yeast dudes eat sugar, puff out CO2, and inevtiably die

I am their god of juice.

#1588 Watching juice ferment.

Posted by Aresem on 01 February 2012 - 11:34 AM in DIY

This crap is interesting and I'm not sure why. I loved watching the yeast get to floating itself all around the bottle, then it foamed up out of the airlock, receded, and started flowing a steady stream of gas into the airlock, making the water in it bubble and such.

None of that really sounds interesting, I know, that's my point! Why am I so fascinated by that?

#1596 Watching juice ferment.

Posted by Aresem on 01 February 2012 - 11:55 AM in DIY

Oh, lol, didn't know that one. I just figured it was called "toilet wine"

But nah, no bread, just grape and pomegranate juices and a yeast packet ;) With EMULSIFIERS! For emulsifying I guess!

#1637 Watching juice ferment.

Posted by Aresem on 01 February 2012 - 10:08 PM in DIY

For sure. End result is better than I expected too.

Low proof, about 7 or 8 I'd estimate, but it tastes like even less, which is what makes all the difference ;)

#407 Warehouse 13

Posted by Aresem on 15 January 2012 - 11:53 PM in Sci Fi

I'm so into this show. My favorite thing is that even though it's a "syfy" original series, you can only tell it is like 10% of the time! That's at least 90% less often than most of their other shows!

Also, it apparently takes place in the same universe as Eureka, considering the crossovers... so that leads me to believe that they're trying to build up a sort of ongoing universe kinda like the comics do. I could go for that, if they keep hiring people that can do their jobs as actors and writers.

If you haven't checked it out yet, fire up the ol' netflix. Or do whatever people without Netflix do, I don't even remember.

#416 Warehouse 13

Posted by Aresem on 16 January 2012 - 04:23 AM in Sci Fi

I don't know what his keyboard does, unless I missed it, is that later in the series? I'm almost through season 2.

Artie is definitely my favorite, he's like a big asperger-y teddy bear xD Claudia's alright by me when she's not being written as too quirky for no reason.

Here's my one complaint, that one chick kept saying she didn't eat sugar but then out of nowhere they gave her a habit of eating twizzlers. Twizzlers aren't sugar free! What gives?

#421 Warehouse 13

Posted by Aresem on 16 January 2012 - 10:17 AM in Sci Fi

Oh! That thing, okay! I agree, it's pretty badass.

For some reason I automatically assumed it was some kind of artifact when you brought it up xD

#5716 Um, scuze me 11th Doctor, wtf do u think ur doin?

Posted by Aresem on 08 April 2012 - 12:03 AM in Sci Fi

I was disappoint when the 9th went, but quickly grew to prefer the 10th.

Now, I start season 5, the 11th Doctor's first season. Why does EVERYTHING feel different?

I get that Russel T. Davies is no longer writing, but whoever it said wrote this one has written episodes before. But somehow, everything just has this weird feel like they decided to subtly shift the tone of the show in a different direction.

...also this new guy seems kind of annoying.

#808 Too sick to talk

Posted by Aresem on 20 January 2012 - 07:55 PM in Everything Else

So what you're saying is, not only have I gotten everyone around me sick with this permanent cold I seem to have, but now I'm transmitting through the internet?

Makes sense. The next stage of illness is probably turning into zombies.

#3974 TIL women are disgusting.

Posted by Aresem on 13 March 2012 - 05:55 PM in Everything Else

Hell, I dunno, it's not like there's boob germs growing. Not harmful ones at least. I mean, there ARE bacteria, eating dead skin and sweat and stuff, and they do produce that turrible smell...

 So at least one woman actually does that, huh? Gross.

#1448 ThinkGeek wishlists.

Posted by Aresem on 30 January 2012 - 02:48 PM in Everything Else

 Hooray! I want more things I can't afford than you!

You know, ever since I built that wish list their little mailbots have been just throwing promo codes at me. Convinced me to spend $30 for a $5 discount, then the package came with a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase.

Gonna end up buying up my whole wishlist before the year is done B)

#1230 ThinkGeek wishlists.

Posted by Aresem on 26 January 2012 - 10:06 PM in Everything Else

Well, hold on... I'll go collect the items I want in a wishlist and get back to you...

$1755. That's just the stuff I REALLY want though.

#1798 There's a new Humble Bundle out right now!

Posted by Aresem on 06 February 2012 - 05:38 PM in Video Games

The point isn't to excite you. It's a charity... The more often it's happening the better xD The games are bonus incentive, at a serious discount.

#1635 There's a new Humble Bundle out right now!

Posted by Aresem on 01 February 2012 - 08:01 PM in Video Games

http://www.humblebundle.com/

Same deal as the Holiday bundle, the games cost any price you wanna pay but you get more (the current bonus is World of Goo) if you pay above average (which is, once again, just under $6)

It's a pretty sweet deal, it's for a good cause, and you get to pick how much of the donation goes to who. Just to clarify, since the website is making it a little ambiguous, this is NOT exclusively for mobile devices! That's just an added bonus, you get access for every platform available just like the last bundle.

Be charitable, get discount games. It's a great selection, and it's too cheap to ignore :D

#403 The famous "Island" question...

Posted by Aresem on 15 January 2012 - 11:30 PM in Everything Else

This is a famous question? How arbitrary, you're stranded on an island! You need to build a shelter out of blocks to keep out the zombies!

Also I guess Jethro Tull's Original Masters. That or... no, that AND everything else I want, why would I only have one album with all the memory this thing has?

#2018 Steam.

Posted by Aresem on 11 February 2012 - 04:41 PM in Video Games

Good catch, Flipster Jackson.

I award you one (1) congraturation.
