I play Magic the Gathering all the time. I even have Liliana of the veil, which is a mythic rare card worth 50 dollars in mint condition.

I play when I find people to play with. My favorite deck is a 30/30 red Shotgun deck. Its all direct damage, excepting a few pyromancers that can deal damage every turn without attacking. This deck plays well against complicated decks, I smashed a sliver deck once by sniping them before he had enough to get the deck really going.

I also play a Myr Deck, rolls up fast and hits hard as hell.( Myr Battlesphere and a Galvanizer, the field loaded with tokens from Turbine, 25/25 and does 25 on attack, plus all the tokens are untapped by Galvanizer)
Few other decks, mostly artifacts and a few red/green combos. Got a Goblin deck, a white/blue anti-artifact that I made for my girlfriend(purpose built to dominate my Myr deck), one Red/Green deck designed to equip and enhance creatures hard and fast.
Black PITA deck designed to just make the opponents miserable. And a few 30 card trainers I built to teach newbies, they have simple cards and balanced mana, easy learning.

My friend had all power 9 cards, back in the day. He sold them for like 3000$ or more.

See, the that just confuses me, someone spent a car's value on cards. Regardless of age and value, $3000 for trading cards is nuts.

well atleast he got more back than what he paid for, since they grew in value fast. Black Lotus is worth like 1500$ here in sweden right now. Probably alot cheaper in the US though. But its a very high price. Me and some friends picked up on Magic again last year. We hadn't touched the cards for like 9 years or so, got hooked right away. I made a black deck and wasted like 500$ on it haha for a bunch of freakin' cards.

I started actually playing about a year ago, though I feel like its been longer than that cause my boyfriend continuously talks about it so I knew what was going on before going in...I only have the one deck though, which is a blue/white one that I made at a draft....cause it has a whale in it!

 

....I also only won one game that whole draft...but its the only deck I use hahaha

 

I also found playing it on XBL was a great way to learn, it's how I started before I had any cards.

I play every now and then. My boyfriend is into it more than I am. We have a small collection of cards, two 60 card decks and two edh decks. We play more EDH than anything though.

i've been collecting mtg for a few years, but only just started to play  around when Kharns of takir was pre-released and so far have been playing a deck i call 'true abzan' which is to say i dont play the meta abzan that only plays value cards - not that value is bad - with most of the outlast cards in the deck

My decks are usually very creature focus. A lot of buffing. I don't play tournaments anymore but I still play casually at the local game corner. My most recent deck is a sliver but since I play off the grid, our games aren't restricted by tournament decks. I also still have my first deck though I don't play it anymore: squirrels. I have a squishy part of me that is fond of MTG dragons and goblins and when you can use one as sacrificial buffers for the other, you have my favorite kind of deck. As for my favorite colors to run, that's easy enough; red and green.

I've started playing with a blue/white deck
I'm still learning the mechanics of the game, I've been only playing for about two/three weeks though.
