Same, I only know up to about Gen 3.

~600 last I checked. They've started releasing the pokemon for generation 6.

I still play Pokemon, but I haven't played anything more recent than Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald

I'm playing a randomized Nuzlocke of Emerald currently. It's weird. But fun. Definitely something to try.

What happens if you lose to a trainer? You can't release all your Pokemon.

Yes you can. If you lose to a trainer, you release your entire team. Unless you haven't got anything stored in your PC to switch them with. If you only have say 5 pokemon, that's game over for you.

Mine's going pretty good so far. The randomizer has been good to me and gave me a Venonat with exp share as my starter. Then I caught a level 3 Blastoise lol. Then a level 5 Torkoal which has since died, but I replaced it with a Vulpix. I also caught myself a Pikachu and a Steelix, so my team is already pretty diverse. Only problem is it randomizes enemy trainers and gym leaders too. It's hilarious to hear a Bug Catcher yell "I'M GOING TO BEAT YOU WITH MY BUG POKEMON!" then send out a fucking Rayquaza.

It's ok, you have me beat. I only recognize 6 of those O.o I played up through third generation. I dont wanna know how many pokemon there are now

This sounds really interesting. I assume you can do that on the site you posted?

No, the site I posted is just for battling online. Basically it means you can fight against friends even if your DS doesn't work online (like mine). To do what I mentioned, you need a Randomizer and a ROM of a Pokemon game. The ROMs I'm sure you can find yourself if you want to try it (to avoid piracy and such) and the Randomizer I use is THIS ONE. It works on any Pokemon ROM, from gen 1 up to gen 5, and there's a ton of options you can set up.

It's pretty fun. The real killer with being randomized is you can come across some really difficult shit. I couldn't catch anything on the first route, nor could I really level up my Venonat. The most common enemies were Shuppet (ghost type, Venonat has no special moves until like level 11 when it learns Confusion) and Latias (good exp, hard to kill, nigh-impossible to catch with a basic pokeball) so yeah.

I used to play like that in class with people.
We would just pass a notebook around after each move.
That way we could play while in class and not get in shit.
If the teacher ever caught us passing the notebook all they saw were numbers and calculations.
Can't get in trouble of passing math notes around.
