Hey guys,

I don't know if anyone can help me, I'm using my old laptop because I am getting my current one repaired. Unfortunately this one is a bit finnicky. The left hand side closest to where I rest my palm houses the hard drive and if I jog it or push it there, even the slightest bit, my whole laptop immediately turns off. Any idea what the issue is and how to fix it? x.x

Could be a cracked motherboard or a loose connection... something not easily fixed unfortunately.

Blah, was hoping I might be able to just give it a bit of cushioning or something.

Could just be the hard drive isn't seated well. Pull the cover off and make sure it's pressed in.

I have had a fiddle with it, I'm guessing it needs some padding but my girlfriend has told me I'm not capable of doing that by myself. :B

Just stick a wadded up bit of paper in there, you'll be fine. Make sure there's not much pressure on it though.

Edit: Also, whatever happened to your significant otter? She was an interesting member.

Need a girl who encourages you man.

Sounds like a loose or dodgy connection somewhere. Open her up (the laptop) and re-connect / re-seat everything (DIMM, sata, power)

May yield results!

If not confident with doing that yourself though, hopefully someone experienced can help you =)

I can't believe you called her that Spleen...have you been talking to her? XD

I asked her and she said she half forgot, half is very shy. :P

I'll try your fixes tonight, thanks guys. I'm having another really annoying issue with the laptop too. Every time I turn off and unplug my laptop it forgets the WiFi settings so I have to turn it on, turn the WiFi button on and then restart it ...then turn on wireless capability via trouble shooter. xD it's a bitch.

Haha, I have not. I saw it on an otter gif on reddit once and it seemed fitting. >.>

Prod her until she comes back, we need more interesting people.

Also, the WiFi thing sounds like an entirely different issue. What version of windows are you using?

If this topic is still relevant ... does your laptop run white plugged in. And if so, while plugged in I'm assuming it doesn't make it past 0%?

No laptop should ever be at 0% and still running. That's just odd. Unless you're meaning it doesn't even turn on ... which then yes ... the battery is rooted. (stuffed)

have never encountered that Wifi issue you've explained. W7 shouldn't do that (obviously). Have you got a third party program/app controlling your network settings inl. Wifi, or it it just Windows based.

If it's third party, I advice removing that shit and just using Windows.
