Guys,

I am planning to DM a game of Shadowrun. As I have never been a DM before I was hoping people could provide me some insight, suggestions about this. Especially if you have DM'd a Shadowrun game. Thank you in adance.

Well, my general guidelines of DMing are as thus:
-Don't focus too much on any one character
-Don't railroad the characters. If they come up with something you didn't think of and it works, then improvise.
-Don't work too hard on killing them. Games like this are almost never perfectly balanced, and one or two player classes are going to *always* catch the brunt of a bloodthirsty DM. In D&D, a barbarian or fighter can pretty much handle whatever, but a Rogue dies if a high level creature looks at him funny. Or he has to run and hide during combat every time. Which sucks. Focus on the story.
-Shadowrun offers quite a few avenues to approach any problem. Try to consider every possibility, but don't put up roadblocks for all of them. Just some of them, some of the time.
-Choose your clothing randomly by dice roll. No, not the NPC's clothing. YOUR clothing. Especially if you own silly clothing.
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

Thank you so much I really like the last option...........I think I will do this one definitely..........I am still trying to figure out the passage of time within the game with regards to extended test, paying lifestyle cost and such. Your advice is good and thank you so much.

I don't have a *whole* lot of experience with Shadowrun, so I might not be much use for detailed rules questions.

But you're welcome. And you'll do fine. ^__^

I found some programs to allow some friends to play the game remotely via web chat. This opens up so many possibilities for Shadowrun..............

I checked out D20 but found MPTools to be more suited for my needs. Only thing, so far that I see, is that it doesn't have any type of chat/video chat program. So I will look into that as well.
