I went looking for it so I could post a gif for you guys.
It finally died.
I didn't realize how sad I would be if it was ever not there.

I understand this feeling, Sympa. It's a strange mix of nostalgia as you remember times past and loneliness as you realize the link you had with people is now gone.
Secretly, I'm a bit of a sensitive crybaby, so I feel that sort of thing deeply. Were you close with any of the people? (God, why does that make it seem like they fucking died or something?)

We (a rather large number of us, actually) were very close. We spanned three continents and double-digit countries, I believe, and people would visit each other at meetups across sea and land. It was a very familial setting... I only met one person while I was in the UK.
I think they're all friends on FB for the most part (which is what killed the forum, actually), but I'm on strike from the thing.
And anyway, it's just not the same.
I plugged it into the Wayback Machine.
It's like videos of friends long since moved on. In a weird way, it does feel like something has died.
Missing them is what brought me here.

The obvious solution is to contact the members and bring them here.

I think I pay $7 a month in hosting, so even if something happens to me as long as the ads are generating that a month this place will continue.

I know the feeling! ):
The first forum I ever joined is still kicking, but it's just barely hanging on. It was a popular Pokemon forum back in the day. Then I joined a Pokemon IRC community full of artists that branched from that forum, and like the forum, it still exists but it's pretty much dead. The owner abandoned it, but I still have contact info for most of the people I cared about there. I'm lucky enough to have two of my good online friends still on Skype, we talk occasionally but for sure I've lost contact with many people I wish I could see again. I'm sure I could find them again if I looked through their dA accounts. I wonder if they think about back then as much as I do.

I'm gonna give that a solid "probably." I would wander off for months at a time and then come back, and every time, I was welcomed happily. I bet they do think about you.
Stuff reminds me of them occasionally, and sometimes I just think about the way they felt to be a part of.

The first forum I joined started in 1999 and moved to its current home in 2000. I joined in 2008 and along with about 20 other active members form a core group. That is, people who have posted regular for however long they've been on and have a good deal of reputation which is a non-arbitrary measure of a value of each member's posts, added and taken away from by other members. The thing is it's such an isolated forum that when one member goes they are never replaced. Back in 2008 we had maybe 50 odd regular members. I think we had about 25 last year. So...yeah...

I came here when my old forum went under.
Idk is from the same place, so I didn't get hit quite so hard with the sad "my comfort place is dead" mojo.
A shiny little piece of my old comfort place followed me here, and you guys are more than enough shine to have filled the rest of that void in my life.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

I use to be a member of the forum on coolrom.com, but the forum literally stopped existing over a year ago... I don't think it is coming back. <.<

My first forum was the BHZ, or Burning Horizon, a fan forum for Homestar Runner. That forum has like five people on it now from a heyday of like 30 to 50 daily posters.

That sucks sympa, I'm sorry.
I know the feeling of seeing a forum you love disappear, tho. All I can say is try to get in touch with who you liked
