The good brand name lolita costs ~$300 for just 1 dress. Hot Topic has some cheap gothic looking dresses but they look cheap too. My recommendation is Bodyline, it's not brand name, but I bought a nice dress on there and a petticoat for ~$90. The petticoat wasn't the best but it worked for what I needed it for. If you want to try a good brand name lolita dress for a bit cheaper, you might find someone looking to sell on the EGL community on livejournal.
