I go around a cosplay convention asking people what is the key when it comes to dating cosplay girls.

How is it done?

Introduce yourself, then ask them questions about cosplay and/or anime. After that, try asking stuff like "Do you go to anime events often?" After all of that, just have a general conversation about the weather, sports she's into, her hobbies, etc. The last thing is to ask if she would like to hang out with you at another similar event. If she says no, then move on to the next girl.

Compliment their costume, say they are doing a great job pulling off said character, make a super nerdy flirty joke referencing whatever costume they are in(I think I would make a great Finn to your princess Bubblegum), bond over said geek thing. Ask to exchange numbers and hope they are single and your type AKA(NOT GAY if you a guy, or not straight if you a girl) walla.
