I despise the royal family. They're just a bunch of jumped-up overly-posh arrogant morons. They get concessions for everything, and things that would get imprisonment for normal people are laughed off when they're enacted by the royal family, such as one of the princes stealing a military helicopter to go to a party.

Spleen, I'm being deadly serious here, I had a dream that I interviewed the Queen last night, don't know why, never happened before, but there you go.

And we aren't all like Xiao, some of us don't mind the Royals! ;D


Fact is, so long as they pay their way - and holy shit do they pay their way - then they can live in a Palace and as many castles as their little hearts desire.

Every person in the population gives the Royals about 76p a year. But they give us about £500 million through land and £2 billion through tourism.

Also, it's a bit of history isn't it? Having a Queen. We've had a Monarch since 774 AD, it'd be an awful shame if we got rid of them in the foreseeable future.

Oh, and one of the reasons you Americans don't get oil from some Arabian countries is because they'll only do dealings with countries that have monarchies as well. Although, that being said, I'm not sure if that's a rule that still holds in the 21st century.

Personally, I don't believe there's a need for a monarchy at this point and time, and I see them more as just an old historic building or something. Neat to look at, but pretty useless otherwise.

That's it, we don't need them from a governmental aspect, but they provide us with a huge amount of money, and from a historical aspect, they play an enormous and interesting part. I don't particularly like them as individuals, a huge amount, I'm relatively apathetic really, but as a collection of people and assets, then they are a vital part to the country.
