This time last year I would have been asleep right now. I was stuck at a dead end job - third shift at a grocery store. The store was closed overnight and for 6 of my 8 hours there my time was spent alone. One of the people I did get to see though was a delivery driver for Wonder bread. He was a cool guy, we always shot the shit when he came in. He would come in at different hours of the night (morning?) so I gave him my cell # to call when he got there so I could let him in.

He knew my job blew, I was underpaid and it was dead end so he tried to get me a job as a driver - however, I wasn't 21 at the time so for insurance purposes they couldn't hire me. Sometime around September he got a new route and we went our parting ways.

This afternoon I'm at a local deli with a friend getting lunch and my phone rings - it was the Wonder bread guy. I haven't talked to him in 7 months, so I figured it was a misdial or something. He left me a voicemail saying he was sure I was 21 now and offering me a job.

Can you believe that? After 7 months of not talking to someone, hearing from them etc. he still had my number and thought of me when they needed a new driver.
