After watching the three videos made buy the main developer of the game on YouTube I got really interested in the new SimCity game that I believe it is coming out on March 5th 2013 (check if I am wrong, I don't want to give out false information). I don't have much experience playing much of Sim City games or just Sims 1 & 2. I did get SimCity Creator for Wii when it first came out and I was disappointed. Then again my hand isn't very steady and familiar with a Wii controller unless we are talking about Animal Crossing. I don't know if this feature was in the others but you can actually build towns with friends online! The way it works is that you have 6 plots for people to build on. Weather it is local or online people can send you an online message asking to join in and if you invite them they can claim one of the 6 plots and start creating there town. Be aware that all 6 plots are a part of each other. For example if there is a fire in your town and you don't have a fire station the neighboring town that does have a fire station will send some fire trucks over! This could be a good or bad feature if your buddy is an ass hole and decides to screw up the whole town. And if you are a control freak you can just claim all 6 plots for yourself.
I think you will all get a better look at it if you just watch the video by the developer by following these 2 links:
Part 1: https://www.youtube....h?v=yWLClUwAHGc
Part 2: https://www.youtube....h?v=bpzouhrHCpM
Cool Pictures!!!
Please don't hold back if you know anymore about the game, and point out what I miss or what I don't know! Thank you!

Man, I loved that game back in the day. I wanna check this out, but I'm afraid it won't have the same magic the game did back when I was a kid. The multiplayer thing seems like an awesome idea, but I'm not too psyched about the DRM stuff.

The multiplayer I'm still unsure about, as my towns aren't very...intuitive.
Very, very efficient, but by no means intuitive.

Just ran across this. Agree'd.
The sad thing is, EA doesn't care about customer loyalty at this point.
They have a chunk of popular IPs, they'll just continue they're money-hungry ways until people literally STOP buying their games, which going back to the popular IPs, probably wont happen.
EA brought back the Online pass. Yeah THQ is the one who brought it back from the retro era, but EA saw the idea and ran with it. You'll be hard-pressed to find an EA game from the last couple years that doesn't include an Online Pass, also sold online for $10. Now, the online pass isn't enough, the consumers have wisened up, and they know buying a used EA game means another $10, not counting whatever content they cut out and are calling "DLC". So, the next logical step in combating piracy and used sales: Always online DRM. It's barbaric, it's been proven to be faulty, to make gamers lash out against the developers, and to drive game scores down... but they don't care.
The thing that really drives me nuts about it is... they dont need this money. This is EA we're talking about, the company that pretty much monopolized DLC [on-disk, day 1, and all that terribad stuff], that charges consumers $10 to play a used game online, and that sells their own games through Origin for /full retail/, even though it costs them nothing but server costs. EA, the company that decided they would try to outsell Call of Duty by being Call of Duty, failed, and didn't have any noticable financial backlash as a result. EA, the company that blames the consumer for piracy, used sale rates, and other bullcrap cutting into their precious profits, while they sit on huge piles of cash, asking us for more. EA, the company that buys popular IPs, studios, and developers, just to make them churn out another grey, ultra-realistic shooter [Dead space, you deserved better]. EA, the same company that SUPPORTED SOPA, because they currently don't have enough endless power, they wanted sovereign power over the internet.
EA pretends that it has no money, and makes the consumer suffer because of it. Apparently "Challenge Everything" also includes how much your customers are willing to fork out.
Meanwhile, Valve has popularized Steam, which is essentially DRM, but is so friendly to the point where... I prefer it over pirated games. I know a game I buy from Steam I will be able to download, play, and enjoy, with or without internet. With internet I get all kinda goodies they give me FOR FREE [L4D1 campaigns for L4D2? how much does that cost... nothing?]. Valve sees pirates not as thieves, but as potential customers, and they reach out to these people by offering a genuinely better service and a really good price. Valve is becoming a very lucrative company, and it shows, not only in their games, but in Steam itself. Steam is constantly updating, and with the "Big Picture" service, they're looking into drawing the console market too. Valve has also bred fierce consumer loyalty, not by holding onto popular IPs, but by treating their customers like... well... paying customers.
Meanwhile, EA's scratching it's head going "I wish I could get some of that cash....". And on that day, Origin was born, and showed the world just how disconnected EA is.
EDIT- Sorry about the EA rant, it just really pisses me off then EA takes a popular franchise and dooms it from the start
I am so confused by this whole thing explain it to me the whole need to be online all the time deal.
Long story short, you have to be online to play SimCity. If you don't have net, or the EA servers go down, you can't play the game you payed $60 for.

After THQ went under I was worried what EA might buy just to take a shit on. Can you imagine what they’d do to Saints Row?

Nope, I agree 100% with all that you've said. The sequels EA puts out are shit, plain and simple. Mass Effect 1, I loved. I couldn’t even finish two, I was so disappointed with it. I never picked up 3. Dragon Age one, very cool. Two? Turrible, didn’t finish. Diablo one and two? Amazing. Three? Never played, heard too much crap about it.

They just demanded that their sequels be "safe", lest they tank and actually *gasp* lose money on a project.
Instead of risking that doomsday scenario, they just homogenize all their games, and all their franchises
People bought [insert title of gritty, realistic, grey and brown shooter], why wouldn't they buy it again?
"powerup" DLCs (think the Battlefield 3 loadout unlock DLCs that cost like $80 or something in total), etc etc.
That was almost a satirical DLC, in my opinion
You can buy the game for $60 [more for the Limited Collectors Bullshit Edition], and for another $80, you don't even have to play it!
It's a win-win for rich people

Then add what, $15 per map pack/add-on, or $60 for the season pass/"premium"...
Fuck me the game ends up costing over 200
But...but they have to combat used sales! and piracy! and the music television!

The thing people are mad about is being unable to play the game without internet. Meanwhile, pirates get to play it whenever, however they want, with all the DLC free.
You're paying for an inferior service, while pirates get better treatment for free.
