So, I want to build a website for my games, and need your opinions on the best domain to get.

Here are the possibilities that I was thinking of.

phatnarwhal.com

phatnarwhalgames.com

phatnatwhalgaming.com

phatnarwhalstudios.com

I am hoping for something along those lines, but I am mostly god with .org .net etc.

I'm fearful, I'm fearful, I'm fearful of flying, and flying is fearful of me.

yeah, but it doesn't describe the site as well as phatnarwhalgame.com.

Another quick question, what hosting service do you use, spleen?

I would go for phatnarwhalgames as well.

It has a batter ring than the rest.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Yeah, the problem with landogaming.com is that I'm not the only person working on development. I have a composer, a php/network programmer and I am looking for a sprite artist.

You need to do term research and find out what the most common terms people use to search for sites like yours are, and incorporate those into your domain.

Things to remember:

  1. Shorter names are ALWAYS better than descriptive names. Your domain doesn't need to describe everything you do, just think of it as a first name.
  2. Avoid words with common typos, like the word "their".
  3. Avoid names that are very similar to someone else's domain. You want to stand apart.

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

This sums things up pretty well. Googles keyword tool is very useful, and it's free.

I've always wanted the domain mycatishillarious.com. Think of the ads!

You'd also need to register:

mycatishilarious.com

mycatshilarious.com

mycatshillarious.com

at least.

Though I'd avoid the word "hilarious" entirely. People don't like to type long words, and words over 3 syllables in domains don't catch well.

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Also, I always want to put extra Ls in "hilarious". Not good to have a domain that the master can't fucking spell.
