Returning to and Becoming Who I Really Am

Welcome back. It's good to see that you're accepting who you are and that there's nothing wrong with it.

I once got a 99 on a quiz/test in the 1st grade for making the number 4 look like the 4 you see in this font. (With the top connected in a point) rather than making the 4 open at the top, like this: 

The teacher explained to me that I was wrong for making my number four closed at the top, and that I should lose a point.  I believe this is what made me hate school for the rest of my life.

In kindergarten I argued with the GT teacher that the letters C and Y could sound like different letters. Ended up having my actually teacher have to talk to her and back me up so that I could stay in the program. 

Teachers are stupid. >.>

Self revolution is not always an easy thing to manage, but tends to be totally worth it in the end.

Life is too short to adjust yourself on a massive scale to accommodate the fools in the world and make them more comfortable.

We have entered a marvelous era in human history where being what we are is not only cool, but we are the top of the cool food chain.

Want to talk about Game of Thrones in a public place, go for it.

Odds are there are at least a few other people within ear shot that have their own opinions on the matter.

If you live your life being who you want to be, even if no one else notices, when it comes time to check out you will at the very least be content with how you lead your own existence.

I was always revered as an oddball by schoolmates and family.

My family thought it was great however, so no complaints there.

I couldn't have cared less what other people thought about my interests and activities and I was widely accepted by the people who mattered.

When I was in public school I found a corduroy jacket that I thought was the best thing in the history of time, made me look exactly how I wanted to look with a jacket on.

Other kids thought I was a knob for not wearing the same stuff they did.

My mom asked me a while later if I wanted a new jacket like the other kids had (Nike windbreakers or some shit), and I told her I liked the jacket I had and wearing what everyone else wore and defined themselves by would be stupid. She understood and I kept my awesome jacket.

Fast forward to present day and how many people wear corduroy jackets because they are cool?

A shit tonne, thats how many.

So do your own thing and screw the dinks who feel the need to ostracize you for being you, they don't know what they are talking about anyway.

Way to go, dude.  Investing in and believing in yourself is probably the best possible thing to spend money/time on.  I'm glad you've realized the merits of becoming everything you can be.  We only get a short amount of time here, no reason not to spend it being everything we can be.  I believe in you, make sure you keep us posted. =)

I learned quite a while ago not to give a shit about what other people think of me. The only opinion of you that matters is your own.

In 2nd grade, my math teacher noticed that I wrote my 5's backwards =)

So yeah. In 1st grade I started out at one school, then moved to another school halfwayish in the school year. We had the same math books and everything, but when I started going through the mathbook doing all the work I had already done in the other school. The new math teacher noticed said that they hadn't gotten that far yet, took my book away, gave me a clean book and told me to stay with the group.

What have I realized recently?

I don't like penis.

they teach you to fit into an unquestioning Authority recognizing mold. If you don't fit in that mold, you get kicked out or suffer from a poor Education (I certainly did, get kicked out off class regularely for asking questions/asking for proof/correcting teachers.) I only did well in art and tech courses because I could sit and have a proper discussion with those teachers, and they could teach in a way I could pick up.

It's unfortunate that the curriculum and teachings are designed to get as many students through as quickly as they can, with no real specialized education designed to get everyone through, particularely gifted students, challenged students, and gifted students with some form of learning disorder.

I found out near the end of my grade 8 year (before highschool) that I had actually qualified for the gifted class, but because of my short attention span (read: normal school work was too easy, I got bored, answered and left it there. Never saw the need to "show my work" when I could do it in my head and be done with it quickly and efficiently.)

so they always thought I was just goofing off, didn't want to learn, didn't care, or was cheating/copying answers from the back of the book.

of course when I got into highschool I discovered that my highschool was underfunded with no gifted plan, AND my Highschool mailed a Photocopy of my IEP to the school board, so when I got to highschool, I couldn't use my IEP to get a tutor, or transfer to a gifted school. (my public school also somehow lost the IEP, and closed two years after I graduated from it anyways)

the school board was supposed to have the original copy of the IEP, and the schools the photocopy. due to legal reasons they couldn't just photocopy that copy for schools, they had to have the original on file for it to be considered legitimate.

I have a similar problem. I look real damn young so people don't really take me seriously. And when I express my ideas, people think I'm crazy with my day dreaming.

In a sense I don't follow the normal stereotype of how nerds should look and act....

Yes I'm technologically savvy, and yes I do like fantasy, comic books and Pokemon...

I also like drinking, fashion, socializing and having sex with females...

I guess I'm a bit of a hybrid, I'm half nerd, half street rat...

But it's who I am, people think I'm weird, but you know what? They are right!!!! And I like being me!!! Ain't no other mother fuckers tell me to change, they will be met with a boot to the face!!!!!

Just saying dude, if you are willfully exhibiting a misleading exterior personality to conceal things, then you don't really have a right to be indignant about people not knowing what you're concealing, hahaha.

You never cease to amaze me, and I don't mean that in a good way.

1. If people don't treat you how you think you deserve to be treated, take a good hard look at yourself before you blame them.
2. The more intelligent you are the more you realize how little you actually know.
3. Stereotypes are just that - stereotypes. You don't identify with a stereotype, you identify with a culture and, moreover, it's not a label.
4. Nerd culture isn't exclusive to introverts, neckbeards etc. and honestly it's a little offensive to even imply that

The bipolar comment is just a little bit dumb. Having known people who suffer from it, I can safely say you are one of the "cry-for-attention" fakers who use mental issues such as bipolarity and depression to garner compassion from strangers, something which causes mixed messages for people who actually have problems. This leads to them either not seeking help for fear of ridicule/disgust, or falling even deeper inside themselves because of the negative portrayal fakers display.
