After trying some mice today in the shop, I noticed it felt as if the mice were designed to have 3 fingers on top and one finger on either side. Does anybody actually use mice like this? I know I don't...

I believe the middle button can be programmed (in the case of games) and in general computer use, clicking it brings up an arrow that lets you scroll quickly up or down by moving your mouse.

Plus most FPS games use the scroll wheel (if it exists on the mouse) to quickly cycle weapons and such.

It's not how I'd normally sit my hand, but on the deathadder I have at work I wouldn't consider it uncomfortable to have my middle finger on the scroll wheel and each finger on either side. Honestly I feel like I have a little more precision with my hand sitting like that; I feel less resistance moving the mouse to the left.

Pretty much this.

It's uncomfortable on my Naga, but on most mice I use, it feels pretty comfortable.

I used the wheel button on alt.Fire on games like Half-Life and stuff. (jump on mouse 2 and shot on mouse 1)

I think im still using one of the 1st Dell Optic mice ever made.  The 'silver' buttons have been worn down so that there are white ovals where my fingers sit.  Also the right side of my space bar is smooth and shiny as though i never use my left thumb for the space bar.

I only use two fingers, my hand's too big to actually fit properly on the mouse so I just kinda "wing it" and do whatever feels comfortable.

1. Start Counter Strike 1.6

2. Bind mouse scrolls to crouch

3. During firefight roll your mouse wheel back and forth, causing you to crouch dozens of times per second

4. PROFIT [and frags]

the programming of buttons for games is pretty specific to gaming mice/"programmable" mice.

most mice can't really do it unless you change pointer settings under windows.

used to have a logitech G300 mouse with all 12 buttons programmable (4 buttons along the top, right click, left click, DPI toggle, another buttn there, and scroll wheel.)

I set it up for Path of Exile:

Left click:main attack

Right click: alt attack/spell.

mb1:health potion

mb2: health potion with speed bonus

mb3: mana potion with speed bonus

mb4: Mana potion

DPI toggle:switch between 600 DPI and 2400.

mb5:movement speed potion with movement speed bonus

then of course your spells/abilities list is

q

w

e

r

t

the potions where originally

1

2

3

4

5

so you can see why I made them my mouse. I was always trying to toggle a speed potion to GTFO and would activate a spell or hit a spell still recharging and die.

Yeah I played the assassin/thief/rogue/whatever class it was called. Having those heal+run potions really saved my hide a few times lol. .

I miss that mouse ;_;
