Sure, sports COULD be reserved for alphas, but let's be honest, sports can get super nerdy. I mean, from rules and rule changes (good for law nerds), to how the game is played, and even fantasy sports (which, let's face it, is tapletop gaming minus dice rolling; there's still an element of strategy for the players chosen), it is entirely possible to geek out on anything from college football, to the NHL, and even the Olympics. I mean, I for one would totally use that folder (because I would love to geek out over NHL), and I figure a few others could too. I mean, wit shouldn't be just reserved for team sports....there's tennis, mixed martial arts (like the UFC), and hell....let's throw "pro" wrestling in there as well (which is also easy to geek out over if you watch it....I sadly no longer have the time). So what say you, nerd denizens and king of the forum?

I don't see much love for sports here currently, but if that changes, I'll make a folder for it. :)

I don't really see a sports sub-forum happening....

Well I love sport, I just hate watching it, why watch people snowboard when you can do it yourself?

Exception: I am an Arsenal fan and will watch their games... sometimes.

Ive been going for Arsenal since I was tiny, saw them through their top and low, they beat Sawnsea last night and are coming 5th on the table. Sure Man Utd is winning now but it all comes in circles. We are just finding our place after some bad sales from losing Thierry Henry, Fabragas was a good up and coming but he moved to barcelona... We are heading up the top again.

Anybody watching the Robot Combat League on SyFy?  I just fast forward to the actual fight part of the show. They are pretty fun to watch sometimes.  I'm rooting for Brimstone and SteamPunk.

And there could be some use of a nerd sports section.  Does anybody follow the logistics and stats of baseball?  Chess is also another nerdy sport that is slowly making an up rise in the collegiate realm, or so I've read.

I used to follow baseball stats and such when I was younger, but have since lost the majority of my interest. I assume you bring it up because you do follow it? May I ask what teams and/or players you favor?

Also, I personally don't consider Chess a sport... a "sport" for the mind, perhaps, but that could be said about many non-physical activities.

I'll always follow my old hometown team the Padres, but since moving to Hollywood I'd have to tip my hat to the Anaheim Angels.

I'm a bit bias and will always favor my Cali teams, I suppose.

Players I keep an eye on -

Buster Posey, Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Matt Cain, Adam Gonzalez, Jared Weaver, + many more

I also agree that Chess is more of a sport for the mind, but I'd really like to see it get more popular again

If anybody wants to play a game, pick up the Chess Time android app and send me an invite

I follow hockey stats like a hawk sometimes. I almost always have an eye on how teams are doing, in relative to my Boston Bruins. Man, if more of us were sports fans, we could totally get discussions going about any sport.

Same here, I'm a really nerdy statistical NHL following dude. I love hockey well actually only the NHL. Jagr got traded to Boston, my alltime favorite player to bad he didn't go to pittsburgh though to make a full circle.
