A Little Help Perhaps

So here is my predicament.

I have an external hard drive full of movies and shows I want to watch, but my tv does not have a USB port.
If it did I would just plug Glitch in and away we go.

I used to have an old tower that I had rigged to my tv for exactly this purpose, but it stopped working a while ago, forcing my to use a laptop. This laptop however is a few years old and is on its way out. It does not like to be connected to my tv whatsoever and makes every step a nightmare.

So my next logical step is to directly connect Glitch to my tv via other means.
I looked in to it and from what I have gathered I can get my hands on a USB to HDMI adapter fairly easily.

My question is, is it actually that cut and dry for my to connect it that way and maintain audio and video.
I don't have the experience with this to know exactly, and figured you fine folk would know everything I don't.

I'm assuming that since your TV doesn't have a USB hub it would have no way to play the files.

I bought myself the media box that I require.
I would have mot likely ended up buying something along these lines anyway, because of nerd things, but I feel good that I have another actual reason to buy one.

I need to think of a good name for it before it arrives, I like to name my frequently used hard ware.
Makes everything more personal.
