So, with the recent announcement of Steam for Linux, it's time for a super cheap, linux based steam machine. I'll be basing this off of an unlocked Trinity APU. The A6-5400k specifically.

A6-5400k - $68.79 from Amazon.
MSI Socket FM2 MicroATX Motherboard - $48.99
4GB of Kingston HyperX 1600 RAM - $28.50 With the APU's, speed is king for RAM. You'll want to push the overclock on this.
Cooler Master Elite 460w Power supply - $34.99
Seagate 500GB Hard Drive - $58.11
Basic Case - $17.99
Ubunut Linux - Free

Total - $257.37

You may notice that there is no CD drive added here, that's because technology has come far enough that CD's are not needed. Everything can be done through download and digital distribution, especially considering this is designed to run steam.

let me know how it goes. I've been waiting for a free gaming platform for a long time.
