One of the awesome guys that works in my building gave me a server he acquired. Its nothing amazing, but a few hundred dollars I don't have to spend now. It's one quad-core Xeon 3400, 2 1TB drives and 8GB of ECC RAM. I'm gonna max out the RAM (I think it can handle 32) and run OpenStack Dev on it to play with VMs.

As "fun" as a meth lab would be, we at nerd forum (and when I say we I mean the general population of the world) don't condone drug usage topics.
