Leannesidhe. Irish vampire-muse-faeries that drained the life from their victims while simultaneously inspiring them to great works of art.

Gremlins: One of the only folkloric monsters to be invented in modern times. They were thought up by airplane mechanics in one of the world wars in order to explain malfunctions which may or may not have actually been sabotage.

Boggarts and bogies. Selkies, Rusalki, and Shellycoats.

I freaking love folkloric creatures. <__<

There's also one, I can't remember its name, that was a skeletal creature that flew over battlefields, and it could only be killed by a glass bullet. I'm not sure where they came up with that, and I have to assume they mean a projectile for a sling, but dayum. Best weakness ever.
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

Dragons. Not to be stereotypical, but yeah. Eastern, western, whatever(though honestly I prefer western depictions of massive engines of destruction).

Japanese Oni are also very cool, even if just because they wield kanabo.

Dryads and Kodamas(from their respective sections of the world), are also very cool.

Nuckelavee, a fairy from the bad court in Scottish folklore. It was completely skinless and rode a skinless horse. It lived in the sea, but would ride onto land to grab people and eat them. It’s breath was poison

Their weakness? Freshwater. (Actually, a lot of fairies had this weakness, but iron and rowan are more well known) Think headless horsemen unable to cross the bridge. If they’re chasing you, just wade across a creek and you can lose em.

And burning seaweed pissed it off. It would kill all of the horses in the whole land if someone did that.

That stuffs crazy. I really want to work them into a book, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Dryads and Kodamas(from their respective sections of the world), are also very cool.

Dryads have tits, therefore Dryads > Kodamas

I also like folklore creatures.
They are usually the most disturbing.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

I very much like the more graceful and regal looking creatures, so unicorns, Pegasus, kitsune, dragons.

My version of a dragon is very.. civilized I guess would be the word. They don't fly off and steal princesses, burn down villages and whatnot.

All of you should read the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. She does a very good job of exploring and explaining many magical creatures, especially many of the various types of fae.

In the series i think my favorite character is Siebolt "Zee" Adelbertsmiter(AKA The Dark Smith of Drontheim) He is a Mettalzauber(generalized as a gremlin, though "gremlin" is really just a made up term the metalworking fae created so as to not have to identify their specific race. Since many fae, including Zee, cannot lie they use this term to dodge telling the truth while at the same time not lieing), one of the few fae who has an affinity for metals allowing him to wield any type of metal including iron. He was massively feared and respected by other fae(very few would want to do anything to be on his badside) as well as the werewolves(he carries a blade he created hundreds of years past which feeds on the blood of werewolves, and will slice through most things similarly to a hot knife through butter, including at one point several thick metal chains.) Being one of the fae he has the ability of glamour, allowing him to hide his true form behind a magical disguise which is both illusion and yet actually adjusts the dimensions of the glamoured at the same time(though at one point he reveals that fae who can glamour themselves generally only have a single glamour, and thus cannot disguise themselves to be anyone at any time.)

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

I had never heard of that one, but I instantly love it.

My favorite mythological creature was the colossus. It was this towering gold, practically invulnerable humanoid which could withstand huge amounts of damage and recover by devouring trees, gold and other resources.

Very true, I once killed over 9000 weresquirrels with just some newspaper and poisoned nuts.
