MY NEW EP INSPIRED BY HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI BOMBINGS!!!!!

Hey what's up guys? It's THE ROB$TAR!!!!!!

So last night after watching a documentary about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki I've decided to make a new musical hip-hop EP (roughly 15 minutes) titled "THE OKUNAKI DISASTER"

Basically a fictional account of a survivor who has awoken amongst the ruins of his city after being bombed by the enemy during the great "World War"

This album will focus on his experiences as he witnesses the horror and suffering of those who managed to survive the initial blast....



I have already made the instrumentals and they are split into chapters of the story



Intro
Basic summary of the war and how the strongest country has come up with a solution to end the war quickly....

Okunaki City
The main character is introduced and basically narrates his day leading up to the disaster and paints a visual representation of what his city is like...

Captains Orders
This is basically from the point of view of the captain and his crew aboard the plane carrying the ultimate weapon ready to deploy upon the city.... and the track ends with them dropping the bomb....

The Walking Dead
Our main character has awoken amongst the debris of his home to find the destruction of his surroundings and refers to himself and some of the survivors as... "The Walking Dead"

Devastation
This song narrates the hero as he further explores the true extent of the damage in the city and how people are coping with what has just transpired...

Survivor
This song will deal with how he intends to survive and what his next move is... How will he survive? And what will happen to him next?

Aftermath
This song isn't really about the story, it's basically a song I want to do about the tragic events that have happened in the past and how humans should learn that death and destruction is simply not the way fight any war.... especially when there are innocent lives at stake....



Interesting? Maybe. Fun? HELL YEAH!!! I've never done a themed album before not to mention a SERIOUS one of this nature so this should have an interesting outcome...

I already have a Nerdcore Album almost complete so I plan to get that one out of the way before I start this project.....

I am aiming for a March release of this album and.. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE MOST WELCOME!!!!!

Probably because you don't know how it felt. Generally, the false pretense that you "know what they went through" angers people. Though if you're dead set on doing something like this, I'd recommend reading Nagasaki no Kane by Takashi Nagai, Hibakusha by Gaynor Sekimori, and Hiroshima Diary by Michihiko Hachiya. Another good one to read is Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.

Whenever you're dealing with an event like this, you have to do a LOT of research. Get it wrong and well, you'll lose a lot of respect.

I mean we're the World War 2 veterans angry at Tom Hanks who played a solder in Saving Private Ryan when he clearly hasn't even been a battlefield??? C'mon dude it's a fictional account. I'm pretty sure they we're angry at the developers of Metal Gear Solid 3 who clearly took real life events during the 60's and twisted it with their own fiction....

Besides music and film fantasy needs no accuracy... it's art dude.... Tell Picasso that he needs to do his research and he'll tell you to get "fucked"

However I do appreciate interesting literature about tragedy so I will read the some of the books you suggested for my mere entertainment!!!!

Also yes, veterans have been quite angered by fictional accounts. When Call of Duty: Black Ops was released, many Vietnam veterans were quite angry because it gave a false pretense of war, especially in Vietnam. So yeah.

The WWII veterans weren't angry at Hanks because he gave a faithful representation of your average officer at the time. The story is very loosely based on actual events and more to the point, the film had a whole research department doing years of research and getting information from veterans who were there as well as historians who can give insightful secondary accounts.

What you're suggesting to do is slap a made up Japanese-sounding name on a fake city and suggest you can relive prior events without any research. I seriously suggest you rethink more for your benefit than anyone elses because to be entirely blunt, if you don't put plenty of research in early you'll flop and then it's just time wasted.

Also, Picasso's art is metaphorical. I'm imagining you're specifically referencing Guernica, which you can't really say is inaccurate because it was made by someone who saw it first hand and then manipulated the idea into something wholly new using abstractionism. It's literally in another spectrum entirely.

I wish you all the best of luck, but you do need to think, think and re-think whilst coupling that with research at the same time.

I intend on doing my research, it's not as if I'm going to slap together a shitslop album, if I intended to that I would have done the album in less then 2 weeks. And yes i intend on changing the names because this isn't a personal/first hand account... IT'S FICTIONAL!!!

In regards to Picasso's art it's however you perceive it. The only real semiosis within his art is the fact that he had an obsession with woman and conveyed it with his "surrealistic" style of art.... Regardless interpretations of Guernical vary widely and contradict one another....

All right, just sounded like you were jumping two feet in, eyes closed. As I said, I was just making a point, more to benefit you than anything.

I'll ignored the thing about Picasso because I don't know enough about art to comment, I don't even think the art itself is special, the message behind Guernica is another story but again, I'm not well understanding of the Spanish Civil War so I won't comment.

Referring to my story, I have done a fair amount of research, before I conducted any writing I'd already read enough literature to fill a small library on the topic of post-apocalypse and post-apocalyptic survival. I also have first hand experience of survival because I've lived in the open in both urban and forested environments for prolonged periods of time. I guess you could say that's some savvy research.

Yeah I'm a bit of an art nut, I wanted to be a cartoonist and painter back in high school and even started my undergraduate degree in Visual and contextual arts before changing into Digital and Media Arts lol

I'm going to be frank with you. You can't relate to their loss enough for this to not be offensive or silly to them.

The bombs were a worldwide tragedy that they're still recovering from. Their entire way of life was shattered. Countless people lost loved ones and countless more were annihilated. It's truly one of the greatest tragedies to ever befall mankind.

You watched a documentary. You may have read about it. But that does not put you in any position to try to relate to the people who lost so much those days. The ethical justification is STILL being debated, even today. It's a very sensitive subject, from a very honorific society. I don't think what they will appreciate someone singing a rap about how he "understands their problems", even if you throw the word fictional in.

In short: You're too far removed from the people and the culture, that's all there is to it.

Here's an insight as to how sensitive a subject it is, one you can relate to. In Fallout 3, there was a weapon called the "Fat Man". It was a handheld nuclear launcher that shared NO resemblance to the bomb of the same name, aside from the nuclear part. The whole world got this weapon titled the "Fat Man" at release. Because of how sensitive a subject it is, it was renamed the Nuka Launcher in Japan. Keep in mind this is the only renaming of a weapon in the entire franchise, let alone for purely emotional/respectful reasons. And contrary to popular belief, it wasn't just changing a name in the file and calling it done. If you get your game console playtested and ESRB rated, and you change something, you have to go through that ALL that again just to release the new game. This is a process that takes anywhere from 4 months to a year. But they did it to be respectful, and because they knew JUST THE WORDS "Fat Man" are still emotionally charged.



Moreover looking over this thread, I can see I'm not the first one to say this, and I won't be the first one you denied. You got people here genuinely trying to help you, but because you're not hearing Affirmations, you're just playing it off. You asked for advice yet anyone giving advice is shut down.

I'm not shutting down anyone, it's just how I rebuttal... . This is going to be a FICTIONAL story set in a FICTIONAL world... Heck I didn't even say that it was going to be a NUKE that was dropped on the people... The twist to the story is that ALIENS dropped an ULTIMATE WEAPON on a City (BTW it aint even a Japanese City) and blamed it on a country simply to provoke NUCLEAR WAR!!!! So this is really a sci-fi/thriller NOT a cheap rehash of Hiroshima/Nagasaki....

I duno why anyone would be offended because I'm only saying it was inspired by the events of the documentary NOT a complete rip off or exaggerated account... I think people jump to conclusion too quick... I guess I have to release the thing 1st for people to judge...

And I disagree with your "relating to pain or loss part" Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) wrote an entire album about a man who was dying from Cancer 9Welcome to The Black Parade) and YET he doesn't even know of anyone he personally knows to have died of Cancer... It's just a story dude.... I'm not going to judge him on his legitimacy and accuracy of his songs... I'm only interested in the story he tells.. whether it's compelling... whether it's well told....
