Which would you rather start working on as a job. Comic books? Or Animation? Leave a reason why you chose what you did

As an animation student, I'd eventually like to work on that type of field. But for starters, I'd prefer to work as a graphic novelist. I'd begin by making webcomics, then create those web comics into comic books, to sell, and from there on, grow as an artist and eventually work in an animation studio/company.

I enjoy comic books more than I enjoy animation. Although I love both, I think that comic books are probably less restricted when it comes to content. Plus comic books are a lot easier to distribute and publish. My ideas and work would get out easier to the public.

Yeah, when I was a kid I had this dream of making some cartoon show--it's still fun to think about, it'd be awesome to make the next Ren & Stimpy--but now I'm thinking a comic series would be more doable, or even a one-shot graphic novel. Unless you count DiGi-Draw I've never even tried animating. <,<

I also had childhood dreams of creating a cartoon of some sort.
I am by no means an artist, but I can write the shit out of something.
I also think that The Simpsons and Family Guy were watching me and using my material for their shows.
There was more than one occasion where I would be joking around at school about something and then a few weeks later my exact jokes were on T.V.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

True, very true. Personally I prefer animation over comics because of my interest in it. I can't draw for beans so that deters my like for comics, haha.

When a manga gets adapted into an anime, usually the fanservice is ramped up. So I guess if I'm interested in watching or reading something raunchy and full of fanservice anyway, why not get the full colour animated package?
I'll only read the comic if it was the original media and the storytelling is better, like the first FMA anime versus the manga.
Though I will admit, I do tend towards full colour things, and some of the animation and detail in the past couple years have been pretty nice.

I'd love to be able to do 3D animation via something like Maya. As far as traditional stuff though, I've always wanted to do a web comic.

Also, you kind of attained some semblance of web comic contribution.

Comics also require a handful of people to create the artwork.
Less than something animated perhaps, but still a bunch.

I remember watching someone an interview him a while back and his answers were the best.
When asked how he came up with all the classic characters that he did he responded with:
"I don't know, I can't really explain it. It was like I could do no wrong and everything I pitched everyone loved for no explainable reason. I could make up words and throw in sciencey phrases without really know what they were all about and everyone ate it up. Hell if I know what gamma radiation actually is."

The Flintstones, The Simpsons, Family Guy...they probably wouldn't have even existed without The Honeymooners.I also think that The Simpsons and Family Guy were watching me and using my material for their shows.
