So it would appear Wizards of the Coast is working up a virtual D&D table like we were talking about a while back. It's already open for testing, but I'm not sure if it requires a subscription for every person using it. I know for one thing you can only access the character builder with an account. >_>

Regardless, with voice and text chat, tiles, dice and the like, this could be a really interesting development in the world of D&D. So far it seems pretty cool but it definitely needs a bit of cleaning up visually. Could be a good way to get gaming sessions in on days that aren't Monday. By the way, we'll likely have our first podcast in forever recorded uploaded by Tuesday, so it'll be posted here. Expect it to suck, we haven't gotten together to play in a while

They may have just saved me some work
I wouldn't mind trying it out, I've never played D&D before.

If I can figure it out, and if we both actually pay for accounts of our own instead of using a friends like I do now, we could hopefully get a one-off game made up of a few simple encounters set up to get you familiar with the game. I know at least my brother and 2 of his friends have subscriptions.

Who knows, if you liked it we might be able to get weekly games running and everything. That'd be really damn cool, Spleen, really damn cool. An official Nerdforum D&D campaign

edit: Turns out you don't even need to be a subscriber for the time being, only the host needs an account.

There's only one thing nerdier, and that's Urkel.

Nerdier is every OTHER system of tabletop RPG.
Especially if you know like... more than ten of them.
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

It's the most popular tabletop RPG.

Which is exactly why other RPG's are geekier. XD

Since when does obscurity equal geekiness?

Geekiness is about going to great lengths to obtain absolute knowledge of your niche. Expending vast amounts of time and energy on something most people don't care about.
If you know *any* tabletop RPG's other than D&D it means you've done some research. If you know several... that's pretty geeky.
If you spend spare time reading about tabletop RPG's that you've never played...

[Which I do]

I was under the impression that a geek was a performer who did vulgar things in a sideshow, and that people started using it as a derogatory term in reference to awkward or unappealing folks, and that it was eventually adopted by the intellectuals and/or fanboys who were tired of letting the term get used against them because they weren't popular.

I'd say what you're describing is an otaku. But then again these are all just slang terms that don't mean anything. In fact, I'm going on Urbandictionary and defining a geek as an individual with wide hips with narrow shoulders.

And it'll be true

Looks like Wizards of the Coast dropped the project. These guys picked it up. The basic should do everything but you can pay for a gold service; I haven't looked any further if it is one time purchase or not.

It's a monthly subscription, though it just makes things a bit easier with cloud storage and such, apparently.

It looks pretty interesting. I've never played D&D, it'd be nice to get a group together for this.

I'm going to have to look into this over the weekend, it's supposed to rain anyways. Maybe we can get a nerd forum D&D game going.

Just registered. I have no idea how to play any tabletop games like that, but I'd be up for learning.

Same here. Though I haven't played D&D at all (unless that old TinyAdventures Facebook game counts) so yeah, I'll need lots of assistance.
