The flares on aircraft I mean, work by leading IR sensors away from the engine exhaust by creating a hotter heat source [Magnesium Flares], the IR missile goes towards the flares, thinking either A: The engine has turned on the afterburners or B: It has found the heart of the exhaust go towards it mindlessly, why countermeasures are so effective.

Counter-Countermeasures [CCM] is a system in use with our latest Stinger Missiles, which uses not only the IR from the exhaust, but the unique UV from the burning kerosene, creating a redundant system that countermeasures dont help against.

My theory: Counter-Counter-Countermeasures, have the magnesium flares also contain kerosene [the magnesium already ignite when in contact with air]. That should cause the flares to create a larger area of UV and IR, throwing off the sensitive CCM

Thoughts?

How about counter-missiles? Act the same way as the incoming heat-seekers, but fire from behind so they end up seeking the incoming rocket/s.

Relative cost plays a big role in this, a countermissile would be more effective, but with a much higher cost than simple magnesium flares

I prefer flashy to cost. Explosions are neat.
