Hi guys, I'm new to these forums.

I'm soon to buy a new laptop for around £700-£1000 but i'm not too sure on what to buy. I have been looking at both apple laptops and PC laptops. Obviously I understand that PCs are so much faster than a Macs since for the same money I could get a 16 gb memory, i7 processor and a top graphics card. Whereas Macs have integrated graphics and i5s mostly. Im not sure on the memory but I know the Macbook air has bad memory.

To cut it short I need some reasons for why I should go for one and not the other, also if anyone has any specific products that they could recommend me then that would be highly appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

I have always went with PC. Main reason being more adjustable. There are PC apps for everything and it is so easy to mod a pc.

Macs are more professional and PCs are bill gates stolen version of mac 40 or so years later. Both are fine and my personal opinion is pc.

Better yet stick to the same type as you are using, why learn a whole new OS ?

Many people will compare on hardware configurations. Others on software capabilities. But I think the philosophies of the machines is more interesting. Actually computers are the world’s best philosophy processors.

WhenI look at Windows, I see the IBM heritage, where the B means business. The way an application starts up and takes over the whole screen is like an office machine for a worker who must concentrate on a single task at a time. Since Windows does this, I don’t really think Microsoft understand windows as Alan Kay originally intended them. The IBM heritage is to build computers that control people.

Apple’s devices (a higher-level abstraction than computer) are built for lifestyle – that is people control and use the device as a tool.

I think I like Apple’s philosophy better (or at least they are closer to my ideal of computing than Microsoft and IBM).
