(mutants fit here, yeah?)

I had wanted to watch it for a while.
X-Men were the first super heroes to get me into comics as a kid so I've always liked em.

This movie was awesome tho.

I didn't expect it to be as good as it was.

And though it took me damn near 4 hours to actually finish it because everyone in Chicago has their thumb up their asses, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'd like to watch it again without everyone all up on mah grizzles.

Anyone else see it?

and you thought you were jaded tes :P you read that and assumed he likes you. i read that and assumed you were the same blood type and he needs an organ donation

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'm going to bring this topic back to the forefront.

Xmen first class was a piece of garbage. The title? Bull crap. X-men first class was Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Angel, not these random assortment of teen mutants.
Emma Frost? What the hell is she doing in the 60's when shes the same age as Cyclops/Jean Grey?
And Havoc? The YOUNGER brother of Cyclops?!
Magneto and Xavier were the only well acted characters and had the best chemistry, which saved the movie in my eyes.
I actually died a little inside when Wolverine made that too-long, too-cheesy cameo, and January Jones made me gag with her horrible acting.
I left the theatre thinking, WTF.

I liked it and recently watched it again. Now I don't know much about X-Men lore so I can't sympathize with Carissa (above post) but when it comes down to the movie the action is decent.

I'm pretty good at separating a movie/TV show with it's comic/book counterpart so I was able to watch it again just as a movie, and even then I didn't like it. The acting was bad, the action, meh, and the story line cheesy.

I guess I can say the same about the Batman series, even though those were great movies all around, there were a couple things I didn't like because of the comic counterparts.

I can understand that. I've only read a few Batman comics, and watched the 90's cartoon so I'm not as familiar with his story line.
Also, Christian Bale is kind of cheesy when he puts on the costume..."no one will notice if I lower my voice!"

The voice isn't all that great. It was alright in the first movie because you can understand what he is saying much better but in the second, it's more like he ate a toad and it won't go down smoothly. Surely the voice needs to be distinct but not like that. Almost everything else, they did alright with. But they excused the Joker's tragic backstory (wife, about to have child, vat of chemicals, and that sort of thing). Despite all that, they made him menacing which was pretty awesome. They did Two-Face pretty well.

When it comes to the first movie, Ra's al Ghul is mispronounced. And that hit a key with me, having watched the animated series. But all of it is just a movie, or movies, I should say.

I partway agree with this. Being a huge X-Men fan, I was initially dissapointed with the direction they took, but I think it was because they wanted to keep some connectivity with those other four, god-awful films. I think they picked the characters they did because Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Warren Worthington, Bobby Drake, Hank McCoy (and storm, but she wasn't first genesis x-men), were all in the original film series, and they didn't want to confuse people who had only seen the movies. Other than that, I thought the sets were great, the acting was supurb, and some of the deeper themes were spot on. I also loved Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, I would have never thought to pick him just because how different he looks in the comics, but he really pulled off an amazing megolomaniac. Overall, I liked it, and I think Marvel movies are getting better every year.

I think that Joss Whedon should be the only person to direct ANY Marvel movie from now on
