So I decided I want some sort of plan in my office. I'm bad at watering things though. The solution? A cactus. An overly convoluted system that uses an arduino, a soil moisture monitor, and a peristaltic pump. Basically I have the arduino programmed  to read a soil sample ever 5 seconds. When the water content falls below an acceptable level, it turns on a little pump. When enough water has been pumped from the flask into the plant holder, the pump turns off. Wash, rinse, and repeat. Here's a very basic version that I set up as proof of concept. I'm going to end up making a nicer looking setup, and probably pick up an Arduino Uno or Mini instead of using the Mega I have now.

Just waiting on Amazon to deliver. It's sitting on my work bench, ready for soldering.

So originally I was going to make a brass cover for the electronics. I think I might want to leave it exposed though.

It would be really easy to upscale, but for now it's just decoration.

I'm worried that the moss won't grow as well being watered from underneath, so I've found some tiny brass mister nozzles on amazon. There's going to be a revision in a few days.

Ok, so shit's getting complicated. The fact that moss doesn't have roots means it has to be watered from the top, not underneath. A drip irrigation system won't get it evenly. I got some mister nozzles off of amazon, but they aren't very...misty. Also, in the process of setting up the new system, I've sprung a leak from one of the cable holes. Have to wait on things to dry before I can silicone it back in.

love this!

Thank you
