Hey guys,

Im brand new here, like i just set up an account 5 minutes ago, and I'm not sure if im over stepping any boundaries or just being a general nuisance but I have a (personal) question and I'm not sure weather i should post it, but I thought why not besides, everyone seems nice.

So I've been reading comics for a while and have made a decent sized collection, or at least i think, but it is still amateur. I was really wondering what comics you would recomend. I would prefer to stick to dc and marvel but I am also interested in hellboy... i know quite abit about the marvel universe but not as much about the dc universe but i am just as interested. Ive got the first few of the jla in the new 52 but thats it and i was wondering what comics from dc you would recomend. I was thinking about batman/superman/aquaman/rest of jla but any other ideas would be treasured. Also i love marvel and am currently reading the new venom, punisher and deadpool and cannot get enough of deadpool or general symbiote action. Ive got some carnage etc and love it, but strangley dont have any spiderman, mainly as i worry about jumping on. So overall i love deadpool, venom, loved the new inhuman and black widow. I also want to read many of these major events in marvel and dc like flashpoint, civil war (ive read this) or any others.

Sorry for being annoying if you got this far, and i would love any advice for a rookie new collector, any recommendations for series (preferably one i can join onto easily) or events, big or small... thanks for reading any sorry to be a pain in the *rse... ^_^

Cheers

When I was a kid, I was super-into the Sonic the Hedgehog comics. They're still going strong 20 years later because they are/were actually that good.

The Summer of Blake Sinclair is possibly one of my favourite comics of all time. It's on line. :)

Also Camp Weedonwantcha, which is a bit like Lord of the Flies but much funnier and more adorable.

The guy who created the series Private Eye has a lot of other good ones too - Y: The Last Man and Saga are some of the most renowned titles in the last several years and really good stories. I would also recomend "Powers" by Brian Michael Bendis which kind of blends crime noir with superheroes by following a special division that deals with superpower-related homicides. If you're into Marvel - try Guardians of the Galaxy before the movie comes out - it's a really fun title!

if you're into superhero comics I'd definitely recommend Scarlet Spider, although relativity short, it's still a good read!

I'll have to check 'em out, then.

I just found this fantastic online comic. It's in color, and has quite a good storyline. It's perverted in a lot of parts though, so I don't recommend it to anyone who blushes at the sight of romance. That stuff aside, it has action in it to balance everything out.

Check out TwoKinds. You won't regret it. (Unless you do, then I'm very sorry)

Welcome bro.

^ This. Both are awesome, I personally prefer Tintin though.

Also, if you want something completely different and if you've ever read Donald Duck (and even if you haven't), I totally recommend The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, by Don Rosa.
It has two parts (part 1 is the actual story, part 2 has a couple of extra chapters if you want to read more, definitely recommend reading both of them) and apparently it's very hard to find (they're both on Amazon I think, but they cost a lot) but it's the best comic book collection I have ever read.

As the title says it tells the story of Scrooge McDuck and how he grew up to be the richest duck in the world. In short it's full of adventure with memorable characters and loads of great jokes (with a good amount of feels as well) and Rosa's drawing style is very detailed and beautiful (this is a good example; it's the cover picture for The Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark, a chapter in the second book).

If you ever get the chance, you should give it a try.

I think that there is a firefly series of comics that is fairly current. I read the first issue, and it was okay.

The first one felt like it was reintroducing the world and characters a lot, so there wasn't that much going on. Hopefully it picks up.

I just finished reading the Locke and Key series and it was super good. I think I may even reread it soon.
