Is that for your job? Or, do you have enough money to throw around to have an expensive hobby?

I am the computer guy at a company that does maintenance and repair work to local refineries. Today I was designing safety awareness posters, but on any given day, I get asked to fix anything from iphones to car trunks, work on their website, general computer maintenance like removing viruses or performing upgrades, and even the occasional clerical work, helping to keep records up to date.
edit - also, that particular software is because they want me to learn how to do spool drawings and weld maps.

Well, it's not all oil, but chemicals in general. BP, Dow, Sterling, Marathon, etc.

A great spot to be in a growing company though I think.

I sometimes use Blender on my job, I tried the 3DS max demo (yes its really the demo lol) but I could not wrap my head around it, and I was used to Blender for quite a while, so I convinced my Boss its the best solution for now.
Generally I think those software suites are overpriced. I mean its okay if its being used commercially, but what private user who just wants something to play with can afford this? Free alternatives are good but often more complicated then necessary... I would wish companies would realize that and develope more affordable buisiness schemes for kids and private people.

Which is bs, there are kids on the internet who do wonderous things with stuff like 3D Studio Max or Photoshop, but ofcourse they use pirated copies. If that would be adressed properly, who knows what would come out?

What is your profession
I would not prefer the Educational Versions of AutoCad, and you can not use it in Real Works
