This.

Also this.

What it is, essentially, is you pay (once) for either a thumb drive, a "photon" (I'll explain this in a bit), or an iPod Touch 4G case.

What these devices do is connect you to 4G Internet, no monthly fees (unless you go over the limit, in which case it's $0.01 per MB).

For a trial, you get 2GB a month for either one or two months, I forget. After that, you have 500MB a month. It's pretty cool.

The thumb-drive is for laptops, although with a 500MB-a-month limit you'd want to be careful not to play flash games. Insta-access anywhere :D

The "photon" is a (very) portable (I'm talking fits-in-your-pocket) 4G connector, which supports up to 8 devices at once. It has a 6+ hour battery.

The iPod Touch 4G case has all the same stats as the photon, same price, and (obviously) a case for iPod Touch.

The thumb drive is $50 bucks (currently 20% off, and for people who suck at math it's now $40)
The photon is $100 (currently 10% off, so $90)
The case is also $100.

I'm waiting for the iPod Touch 5 case to come out to order this, but it's a phone-without-the-phone (I can use Skype or FaceTime to call, preferably Skype as it's audio and I can call actual numbers if I put money on the account but otherwise my mom and dad have Skype on their iPhone(4)s, so I could just do an audio call as well), and my parents tell me I need to bring my phone more places, so this would be a solution.

It has a partnership with Sprint, but I'm just worried that they might not make a profit, and then go out of business, but it's SUCH a cool idea!

Thoughts?

(also I'm back :D)

Interesting how i need to supply my email address just to see if there is availability in my ZIP code.  I wonder what other kind of personal information i have to forfeit for 'freedom'
