two of my internal har-drives crashed, one starting up perfectly everything is running perfect except for the computer doesnt see it at all, i've tried using different prots, computers and OS's but not working?
and the other same problem but the computer see's the volumes and that there is data but the computer doesnt see what data? it says this amount is used and this amount is free but when i go to the volume = no data???
please help, the one is a work hardrive = a lot of value.

Try running linux from a live disk to see if you can get to them that way. Also, make sure the data and power connections are properly seated.

For the one that isn't being recognized - is it making a funny clicking noise when it tries to spin up?
On the second one how much data does it say is used? There should be a hidden recycler folder that takes up a little bit of space.

i did try linux both live cd and hardrive based linux, i even tried a linux rescue cd along with ddrescue but its not working.Try running linux from a live disk to see if you can get to them that way. Also, make sure the data and power connections are properly seated.

Ouch....that's pretty harsh. Is there any way to get the info off of the hard drives at all? Any way?
I recommend you do that first, if there is. If there isn't.....

i've tried and tried but i havent gotten it right. if anyone knows how i would love it. but if i cant i have to take a big risk and format it and when the hardrive works try recoverying the format for data.

If it's making a noise that it's probably mechanical. Try freezing it.

Yes. As weird as it sounds, one of the more common problems I've found with hard drives is bad bearings. It's unlikely that's what it is, if both cut out at the same time, but if it is, the lower temperature causes the metal to shrink and spin more freely, helping the platters to get started or to get to the proper speed. I had a teacher in college and I actually put her drive in a mini fridge freezer and ran power and sata out to a laptop to get it to work. Normally, just a good freeze and a quick boot while it's still cold works though.

Depends on your freezer really, I'd leave it in there for at least two hours, make sure everything gets cold enough.
