It's very sad for his father to say he couldn't tell the difference between reality and fiction. If he had known, he should have taken action before something like that happened.

Never heard of that one.
I think this kid's dad dropping the whole "can't seperate reality from fiction" thing is just an easy explaination for the whole ordeal.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Not to sound like an asshole, although everyone who cares will perceive it that way
If you get the idea to bury your head in sand, and it doesn't come across as a bad idea to you, I think it's darwinism at work
But honestly, how could a child be that sheltered?
To watch TV and not know that what you're watching you can't do in real life.
In both cases I don't at all blame Naruto, but the parents who so quickly blame another source.

Yeah, I agree. Kid dying from willingly covering his own head in sand is just darwin at work.

Yeah that is daffy.
Though now that I think about it there have been consistant children injuries/death since forever from kids thinking it is a good idea to give a shot at flying.

I tried to fly often as a child. I did manage to make a pretty sweet zip line at one point. Until I untied the knot (but left it wrapped around the tree) after escaping from my tree house so that the "bad guys" couldn't use the zip line to follow me.
Forgot to tie it back and fell about 8 feet while flying through the woods a few days later. I was age >10 i think...i laid there on the ground alone for at least 2 minutes before realizing nobody was coming to help.
