At stock speeds 6950's trade blows with the 7850, better in some games, worse in others. At higher resolutions, or high AA/filtering the 7850 pulls ahead. Also, all of the 7 series are overclocking beasts, and from the few articles I've seen that remotely compare the two, that seems to make a huge difference.

Also important is that the 7860 will use less power, produce less heat, and will be relevant for longer.

I wouldn't dismiss getting a 6950 right now, depending on what you play, but I personally would go with the newer card when they're that close.

Actually, after looking at AnandTech vs release data, the 7850 is a pretty clear winner.

naw, you're looking at the 2gb 7850 model, the one you have linked is the 1 gig

I owned a HIS 5670, and it ran very cool and stable OCed, Tes has it now, and it still runs cool and stable. From what I've heard about their other cards, they're very good as well.
