According to this article, she was intended to be a lesbian in the 2002 film, but it was cut out. She always did have that lesbian vibe to her. Even in the 70s.

I don't really see why this is news. If someone told me that an unspecified character from Scooby-Doo was a lesbian, I guarantee that she would be the first person I thought of. Even if it didn't have anything to do with that crappy 2002 movie, I could have told you she seemed like a lesbian even back in the 70s. She always looked and acted more like a man. This is just like saying Peppermint Patty from Charlie Brown was a lesbian.

Hands up, who didn't know Velma was gay 40 years ago.

I don't have a problem with Velma being a lesbian though because she never had a boyfriend, at least to my knowledge, but for some reason it seems like she briefly dated Shaggy, so wouldn't that make her bi? If they said someone like Spiderman was homosexual, then I could easily understand why there would be some type of frustration since he clearly has a girlfriend.

I'm not sure why anyone in a children's cartoon has to be attracted to anyone in general anyway though. That is, unless it's Disney, then it would be typical for a couple to fall in love within five seconds after meeting each other.

She did date Shaggy. It went terribly.

Because good fictional characters are fleshed-out, multidimensional people with wants, needs, hopes, and fears? Unless this is about it being "for kids" in which case, see my previous sentence.

I have not considered this. But if she's happy then go for gold.
