I'm not sure if it's a waste of money, but there seems to be a lot of hype over this Disney Plus thing since it launched. As far as I know, all movies made before 1986 will have a content warning because of the racist jokes that Disney once used in some of their movies. It's crazy to think that such a liberal company would make jokes like that, even back then.

"It was the times" or some shit like that. Also, meanwhile, they annihilated Song of the South from circulation and distribution and haven't said a word on the damn subject ever again. I guess this is a step in the right direction in that at least they're acknowledging it?

I am 50-50 as to whether I really want to pay for this or encourage the direction that this is heading. Not that I'd make a difference; I'm sure millions of people are already subscribed.

But on the other hand, I was just informed that Muppet Treasure Island was available on it, and

Good god fucking DAMN I love this movie.

I'm massively apprehensive about so many paid streaming services popping up in recent years.

It feels like we're backsliding to when people were having to buy a bunch of different cable packages to get the four channels they cared to watch.

It seems to me that just like in the days of old, piracy is how you get what you really want.

Yes, this. That's exactly what I was trying to articulate. We're literally heading back toward Cable TV, and for FUCK'S SAKE, we just HAD this conversation, O Conglomerate Giants!

Maybe it's just because our generation is more immune to marketing bullshit and transparent money making manipulations that we're pissed off by this garbage, but it seems that people about my parent's age are the ones eating this shit up.

Probably because it's what they know from the cable/satellite TV days.

My parents already almost all the old Disney movies on VHS. I don't want to watch any new Disney after what they did to Star Wars, so I don't think it's necessary for me to get a Disney + account. I think the only one they don't have is The Little Mermaid. They used to have it, but the tape stopped working. I guess I should go over there and throw the case away for them. All it's doing is collecting dust.

The VHS box of the little mermaid with the original artwork? You might want to "hold on" to that one, if you know what I mean. 😏

You're boycotting all Disney movies after they acquired Lucas' works?

You're not missing out on the live-action garbage, but, damn, dog.

I'm not boycotting them. It's more like taking a break from them. I might watch some of the movies from before Episode Seven. I also might watch new movies again whenever they stop making Star Wars. Until then, the only movies they make that could be even slightly watchable are the Marvel films, and I don't think those are enough to convince me.

Frozen and Tangled and Zootopia and Coco and Moana were all incredible, but, yo, let me know when they stop making Star Wars movies/spinoffs.

Yeah. He's missing out on a lot of good movies, but I agree they need to cool it on the live action cartoons and Star Wars movies. As for Disney Plus, I haven't heard about it nearly as much lately. I guess it's because most people who used it had their free subscriptions end after a short time. Lol.

I think we can all agree that the live-action remakes are collectively ranging from "offensive" to "a blight upon humanity".

And can we even really call something that's 100% CGI live action?

I originally thought they were only going to make a live-action Beauty and The Beast, but then they started making Aladdin, Mulan, etc. I didn't watch any of those after BATB. I still have and use Disney Plus. My only complaint about it is that some good movies are missing such as Coco, Maleficent, Sky High, and The Brave Little Toaster.

Malefecent is there. Coco still belongs to Netflix for now; it'll move over once that license expires. Weird that Sky High isn't there. Also, I thought Brave Little Toaster was a different studio, but I just looked it up, and Disney does own the rights, so, that's also valid.

You're right about Maleficent. Not sure why I couldn't find it before. As for the rest of the movies I mentioned, I guess they don't have them because they were lesser known, but they are great films that need to be added.
