I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

One strange one worth mentioning is the setting for the in-browser game Echo Bazaar.
It's a strange, semi-Victorian, underground purgatory, where death is generally a temporary state. It is populated primarily by humans, but also by squid people similar to D&D's Illithid, and devils, and other, more mysterious creatures.
Despite sounding pretty dark, it's got a strong whimsical streak. Especially because death is temporary. People murder each other and then go home and have tea. It gets pretty entertaining.
I also just have to give it credit for being different from any other setting I've encountered.
They were going to make a tabletop RPG for it, for a while, but that fell through. v_v

That sounds like a game I'd be interested in.
I like the medieval/steampunk settings, especially the darker themed ones myself. Games like final fantasy where you get to fly around on an airship, but still have to fight a dragon with a sword. I'm trying to think of other similar games, I know I've owned them, but it currently slips my mind. I'll update this if I remember them.

It's a pretty fun game, for *some* reason.
I say this because I normally *hate* games that resemble Mafia Wars. But something about Echo Bazaar is pretty compelling.
Yeah, steampunk gets pretty fun! =D I find that I don't generally gel with settings that set out to be steampunk, though. I usually prefer the ones that are steampunk by accident.

Haven't watched Warehouse 13 yet, but I've heard good things!
But yeah, I like that too. Dieselpunk and just general old-industrial-style stuff is pretty great too. In fact, I enjoy it more than steampunk lately, if only because steampunk has exploded a little bit in the past couple years. (Like a faulty boiler, eh wot? ~chortle~ )

It's a pretty good show, a bit corny at times, but an interesting series none the less.
The place I work at has an old fab shop, I'm always in there messing with the old stuff laying around, it's awesome.
I like Cowboy Bebop as well, probably tied with Trigun for second place.I've never heard of Darker than Black though, is there a dubbed version?

Oh dude, yeah, that sounds like it'd be an amazing place to work!
I work at a seaport/museum, and we have a lot of really old equipment, as well as old marine engines for display. I kinda take it for granted sometimes, but it's amazing. Oh man, they had an old radial engine from a landing craft or somesuch. It was so loud that you could hear it on the other side of town. I was standing right next to it and it was like having someone use your chest as a bass drum. It belched smoke so thick you couldn't see within five feet of it when it first started,
and it used about a gallon of fuel in fifteen seconds. XD
Darker than Black season 1 is amazing. Season 2 is... not to my liking. >_> It gets weird in a bad way.
But yes, there's a dubbed version. You should go for subbed if you can, though. There's some dialogue that is AMAZING in the subbed version that gets butchered in English.
There's a part where the main character, who is basically Batman with Pikachu powers, sneaks up behind a villain who just murdered someone, and the villain is smiling, and in the original version he says, "Wipe that grin off your face" and he puts his hand on the guy's head and cooks him.
The dubbed version said, "What are you smiling about?"

That sounds awesome. I've always been into boats and such. My dad was actually a landing craft pilot in the navy, they seem like bad assboats. >.>
I'm the computer guy for an industrial maintenance and construction company, a lot of what they do is repair plans in the houston area. Some of the stuff they pull out of them is from the 1920's and it's always really cool to see what gets brought back. I think the shop itself was built in the '50's as well, so there's some pretty interesting tools around.
I can't watch subs. my mind gets distracted trying to read text while they talk in a different language. It sucks that stuff gets lost though, I know that happens in a lot of shows.

I love the Final Fantasy games because the settings are so beautiful. Steampunk is cool but a bit industrial for me, I like landscape and open areas - Final Fantasy rules
