Kingdom Hearts 3

So, Kingdom Hearts 3 is supposed to be coming out probably around 2016 or 2017, and we're going to get some new footage on Sunday and new footage in November.

So...

What are your thoughts? What new worlds do you want to see? What worlds do you want to see return? What worlds do you NOT want to see or return from the previous games? 

I'm personally hoping for a world based on Atlantis: The Lost Empire or Treasure Planet (Which are some of the better Disney movies, IMO). I really hope they do some unexpected ones, like how Tron wasn't expected in Kingdom Hearts 2, or how Nightmare Before Christmas wasn't expected in Kingdom Hearts 1. So if we get something like Robin Hood, Great Mouse Detective, Black Cauldron (Which I feel is really likely) or The Rescuers, I'd be happy with that. As for other ones, I really want Jungle Book (Because apparently, there was supposed to be a Jungle Book world in Birth By Sleep, but it got cut out for some unknown reason.) and Princess and The Frog (For the sole reason of having Doctor Facilier around. Seriously, the dude is my favorite Disney Villain and it'd be a shame not to have him around)

I really, REALLY do not want Atlantica back, Everything in Atlantica was pretty much HELL for me in the first two games. Marvel stuff and Star Wars stuff, I feel is best left for Kingdom Hearts 4, if there is going to be one. Maybe some kind of DLC, because from what I heard, this game is bringing some closure to the ongoing plotline of the games. So, it's kind of too late to insert a universe as big and complicated as Marvel or Star Wars into Kingdom Hearts. It's just a worry that it might overshadow the rest of what's going on. Also, I have the feeling they're not bringing back Halloweentown. I love Nightmare Before Christmas, but I don't think there was a whole lot that they could've done with it.

As for stuff I know we're getting back, in the E3 footage, the level that gets the most focus is Mount Olympus from Hercules, so we're getting Hercules back (I honestly don't mind - The Colosseum in both games was amazingly fun in my opinion). Gilbert Gottfried confirmed that he was done recording voice work for Kingdom Hearts 3, which probably means we're getting Agrabah back (I really hope it's not the city again - If they do something with Aladdin 3 or something with the animated series, I'll be happy). 

As for stuff I personally want back: I really want the Pride Lands back, if only because I really want them to do something with Lion King 2 (Which is one of the exceptions to the shitty direct-to-video sequel rule, along with the Aladdin sequels). I really want them to do something with Lilo and Stitch again, if only because I really love Lilo and Stitch. I want another Beauty and The Beast world, mostly because I really want Gaston in Kingdom Hearts to make up for how he ended up not appearing in the Beauty and The Beast world in Kingdom Hearts 2. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Neverland or Land Of The Dragons (Mulan's world) back, because both were really fun worlds in their respective games.

...Holy shit, I typed a LOT. I guess I have a lot of thoughts on this. Anyway, let me know what your guys' thoughts are.

I'll write a bit more later but I'm really excited after seeing the footage at E3, a video of gameplay is really uplifting since they've been teasing us for the past 10 years. I can't wait for the Tangled level, I loved that movie.

I just wonder if they're getting Mandy Moore back (I mean, she did voice Aerith in one of the games) XD

-I remember seeing on the IMDB page for KH3 that Josh Keaton (The voice of Spider-Man in Spectacular Spider-Man and Young Hercules from Hercules) was voicing Jim Hawkins, and the guy who voiced Kuzco in that Emperor's New Groove animated series was voicing Kuzco, but then again, IMDB is like Wikipedia, anyone can edit it.  Still, here's hoping.

Alright, this is all coming from someone who played 1 and 2 at release, and was probably one of the biggest KH nerds ever for a while: I'm so anti-hyped for KH3. This is a sequel we were promised way back when, before we got sequels on every handheld system released in the last 10 years.

Fans of the story literally have to buy 5 consoles to follow the story so far. That or opt out like most have and just read up/watch lets plays, which is sad. Yes, we know Square's been sticking with handhelds because their major releases keep flopping, but that doesn't excuse making your consumers have to buy 5 different consoles, they could have stuck with PSP /or/ DS instead of getting greedy. Yes, the handheld sequels have revealed crucial backstory and some really interesting character ties, at the same time they've also pulled the "Lets recycle all our old levels but" crap with RE:coded.

Then they have the audacity to show "trailers" every couple years with awesome recycled CGI scenes, no gameplay, and no date. I remember, not long after the release of KH2, they showed us a very cryptic trailer and said that KH3 would be about the Keyblade Wars. That was, like, 8 years ago. Three years ago at E3 they released that trailer saying that KH3 was "in development"

As a fan of the series, it really, /really/ should have been over by now. My attachments to the characters are gone after grinding through every. single. sequel. and while there's some really neat Lore in the series, it's presented through ragtag sequels, over the course of 8 years where no major releases inbetween.

Now, to answer your question: I hope they bring back the heavily themed worlds, like Pride Lands and Atlantis. Playing as little Lion Sora was fun, and with all the disney IPs in hand they really have alot of creative freedom.

I honestly agree with you on a lot of this. The console stuff is absolutely ridiculous. And yeah, the lack of gameplay in the trailers is kind of dumb, but I honestly like the "In development" Thing, because it's like "Hey, it's coming, but we're not making any guarantees on when it's going to be done". That way, it avoids the constant pushback fiasco that happened with Batman: Arkham Knight, where the game seemed to have its release date changed every week, like "No, wait, it's coming out on this day! No, it's coming out on this day, no this is the absolutely totally real release date- Just kidding!" 

And OH MY GOD YES! I honestly stopped caring about the characters (not to the point that I hate them, I just don't care that much about them as characters) and I've given up trying to figure out what the FUCK is going on in these games, because the plot is just so convoluted and twisted, I honestly have no idea what anyone is doing or why they're doing it. Really, the only reason I get excited for these anymore is the Disney worlds and the gameplay is kinda fun. The thing I absolutely hated about this series, is it started giving Maleficent the shaft, having her go from big bad of the first game to getting beaten by THE FUCKING MOOKS in the second. If they absolutely have to do another, I just really want it to have Maleficent as the main villain, that's ALL I really want out of the next one, which is undoubtedly going to be called "Kingdom Hearts: Random, cryptic, meaningless subtitle"

And I absolutely loved Pridelands, but I LOATHE Atlantica. I'm sorry, but between the utterly confusing "What the fuck do I do"-ness in the first game (Which was an utter nightmare for me), and the cringe-worthy musical numbers in the second, I'd honestly be kinda glad to say goodbye to Atlantica. 

Now, if they replace it with a Princess And The Frog world, where all the characters are animals and stuff, I'd be happy with that. And yeah, having all the Disney IPs does lend to a lot of creative freedom, but apparently they can't use Tarzan (SE doesn't have the required rights from Edgar Rice Burroughs' family)

I stopped caring about the series for the same reasons as Wolf. That and I think the only KH that wasn't trash is Birth By Sleep, because lo and behold I wasn't forced to play as some whiny, prepubescent fuckwit.

And since KH3 will probably be PS4-exclusive, it means I won't have the opportunity to play it even if I had even the most remote desire to do so.

It would be cool if the game acknowledges the time gap between the good games and the MC is a thirty-something in the third game. He backtracks, meeting old friends and realizing how much of an asshat he was as a teen and drinks to forget. He wears a nice button up and oxfords instead of emo starter shit. Chick needs a nude scene.

Eh, I liked Tron, it might've been out-of-place, but I liked that it was so unexpected. If anything looked out of place, to me, that was the Pirates of The Carribean world. It just looked so god-damn weird seeing cartoony characters next to realistic people. And yeah, Avengers and Star Wars shouldn't be in this game, but I honestly wouldn't mind seeing one or the other in the fourth one, if there is one.

Well I think I just found my forum. There's Kingdom Hearts fans. "HEY I THINK I FOUND IT!"

I've recently been playing through the Kingdom Hearts series again (at least, the ones on the Ps3). Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 are done (I don't really feel I was enjoying RECOM enough to finish it). Currently on BBS right now, which is pretty neat. 

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in 3. But the more I've been looking at it, I dunno, I'm hesitant. Footage from 2.8 looks phenomenal though. I just think the incorporation of Disney Rides as summons is just becoming a bit too much for me. 

Treasure Planet and/or Atlantis would be amazing levels, but I honestly don’t think they’re gonna make it into the game, neither of those movies were super successful. There’s always hope though!

I’d love to see some new and different non-disney worlds, like how Traverse Town and Hollow Bastion were. Hollow Bastion was so epic all the way through in KH1, it had kind of an eerie and overwhelming feeling to it. And the Traverse Town music was so catchy! For me, some of the scenes in those levels (and Twilight Town and The World That Never Was) were way more memorable than some of the disney worlds. But that's just me! 

Either way, I need this game in my life, and I need it NOW.
