I've been thinking, and L is very well comparable to Sherlock (specifically the new, modern BBC one, but I'm not picky).

Warning: If you have not gotten past episode 25 of Death Note, do NOT open this.

What if

I have multiple arguments for this.

It's unlikely that that could happen that easily, especially to him.

Also, in the final episode, he can be seen standing over (if you haven't finished the series, don't open this one)

it's an anime, you can make it that way in your head if you want, it doesn't really matter and there isn't a "true story" to begin with so there could be no conspiracy...

Why would L fake his death? If he finally concluded that Light was Kira, I could understand him faking his death so Light would stop trying to kill him, but there's a lot of things that would contradict that theory. I also don't remember L standing over Light in the ending, but that's my weird memory for you.

And I don't care what happened to Misa. She was stupid and annoying and I hate her. How could L fall for her...?

The events you are talking about happen halfway through the series, if it were true L would have had plenty of time to stop things in the second half. So no I don't think the writers intended that.
