So this summer I will be going to see my dad and it is highly important that I beat him in chess when I get there.
The thing is I know the rules but I can never figure out how to do anything of value in the game. The whole point is pinning your oponnents pieces in a compromising position but I have no idea how to go about doing that. Does anyone know of some stuff I should look into in order to learn enough to finally understand how to beat him?
I've started by looking into openings, I'm thinking one of my main problems is that my pieces trip over each other in the beginning. What else should I look into?
