#53385 so I have some DC questions

Posted by MoWriter on 20 August 2013 - 08:53 AM in Comics, Books, and Graphic Novels

Okay I just found out something that might clear up some of the confusion I was suffering around Alan Scott. He's not actually a member of the Green Lantern Core. His ring is made of the same stuff that The Guardians tap into, but he may actually be older than - prior to The Guardians of the Universe? Or something.

Still don't know about power = leadership mantle being the right way to run an organisation.

#50910 I WANT TO MAKE A FILM

Posted by MoWriter on 04 July 2013 - 05:21 AM in Misc. Movies and T.V.

yea they are pretty bad. My focus is writing nowadays, and character design and storyboarding.

Try these - http://s178.photobuc...asalpassage-WIP

That should take you to a series of frames for an animation work in progress.

And this one: http://s178.photobuc...rary/characters

Is a selection of character designs - some, like Thomas is still work in progress.

my password is "geezer" or "Geezer" not sure which.

Failing that, most of my artwork can be found on my deviant art profile: http://moizabug.devi...rt.com/gallery/

That animation must have been hard to make. Lip synchronisation can be a real irritating puzzle. The gorillas are drawn pretty well.

#50830 I WANT TO MAKE A FILM

Posted by MoWriter on 03 July 2013 - 10:38 AM in Misc. Movies and T.V.

I'll probably be ready to show my homemade animation attempts in a few weeks - still working on some of the frames.

You can find a couple of old short student movies I made here - http://www.youtube.c...h?v=sJturxEsmKA

and here - http://www.youtube.c...h?v=EzjhwTOWN4k

Storyboard (which is the only real filmmaking project that I'm happy with) should be finished and ready to show in late October. Got to finish my novel first. It's going to take me three months to draw the storyboard (180pgs) - rough estimate.

Then I want to save up $1,000 and hire an illustrator to draw the shots and put together an animatic. Then try and find a producer for the next stage of fundraising.

Check out some of my frames and character designs from the movie I'm storyboarding - work in progress here:

#49801 THE WRESTLING THREAD

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 09:34 PM in Misc. Movies and T.V.

I grew up admiring wrestlers, wishing to be one of them.

It was a childhood dream. The main reason I got into martial arts.

I have a few favourite wrestlers. I like Mick Foley because he doesn't look like a wrestler and he's very imaginative.

Also he did an elbow drop off the top of a cage.

Hulkster of course.

Shawn Michaels.

The lionheart turned y2j - chris jericho

konnan

steiner bros

wolfpac - kevin nash, sean waltman, scott hall. Poor, poor scott hall.

ddp and jake the snake.

sting

hacksaw jim duggan.

randy savage.

big show

andre the giant

curt hennig

eddie guerrero

chris benoit

british bulldog

bret hart

and many more...

#49797 I WANT TO MAKE A FILM

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 08:48 PM in Misc. Movies and T.V.

I've made a number of student short movies. Working on the storyboard for an animated feature film as soon as I finish my novel. I've already started drawing it, have a partially written script as reference. Plan to save up some money for an illustrator, and put together an animatic. Then get a job and hire some animators, and produce the thing myself.

I have a Certificate in Television, Theatre and Radio from Aoraki Polytechnic in Dunedin (2000)

And a degree in screenwriting (2011)

Just finishing a Diploma in Art and Creativity with honors (2013) with a focus on digital illustration and designing images for animation.

#49769 Things that rustle your jimmies

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 10:10 AM in Everything Else

I dislike idiots, famous idiots, celebrity douches, harry potter, shallow chicks, rude/disrespectful chicks, people who have an annoying tone of voice.

I also dislike people who make a lot of money making bad films, not being able to sleep, living in the burbs. (prefer the country, the beach, or the city.)

" unemployment offices/job centers are the absolute worst."

hate them too

#49765 Discussion on comic book battles and FPL

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 09:44 AM in Comics, Books, and Graphic Novels

http://www.electricf.../fights/jlx.htm

Thought this would make an interesting topic for us to discuss.

What do you think of the matchup and the battle?

Any other favourites?

I have tried FPL four times, had two characters created, my best one lasted two rounds.

And I create some pretty a grade characters. They're harsh!

#49764 The Green Lantern

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 09:39 AM in Fantasy

I made a character on DC Universe online based off the green lantern. He's pretty weak atm, but wait til I level him up!!!!

Ever been to FPL at http://www.electricferret.com rpging to the max, also a great place to watch comic book universe battles if it's still there.

#49763 The Green Lantern

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 09:30 AM in Fantasy

I agree with a few things. I have to say that Ryan Reynolds did a good job with what he had. Parallax was disappointing, Blake Lively's bitch character was one dimensional. I don't understand why everyone thinks that Hal is immature when we don't really get a chance to see this, except he slept in once - that's it. That's his character development. The backstory was stolen from Top Gun/hot shots.

I love Hal Jordan, but the movie was ass. But I love Hal Jordan so I just keep rewatching it, hoping it will get better. The best thing about the movie is Sinestro, Killowog and Abin Sur/Jake the muss.

I wouldn't steal a car, but I'd download one if I could.

#49762 Comics vs. Animation

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 09:24 AM in Anime

It's a good question, even if it be your only question. I'm a cartoon freak so choosing between comics and animation is a tough choice. I love settling onto my sofa with a ton of comics in sequence (Chasing Amy is a great inspiration for comic creator (mangaka) wannabes.) Or settling down with a cup of tea and a graphic novel on a quiet morning by myself. I just love to read comics, great illustrations are part of the pleasure.

I find the process of animating gruelling, same with drawing, I don't like to spend a lot of time on it. But I can photoshop for hours and I have literally hundreds of scenes in my head, and character concepts, and action/violence. I'm weird because if I start writing something, it's going to be a book because I'll get carried away with the prose. To avoid this, when doing a film I just draw the storyboard, usually I already have a half-written script and maybe a bible for reference.

I choose animation for creative work - writer/producer/designer. That's my goal. Mainly because I have a strong background in film, and animation combines my love of cartoons with my dislike of actors (JK).

#49760 My sci fi movie (aliens)

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 09:14 AM in Sci Fi

Bad Taste was awesome. Also Galaxina, Spaceballs, Indie filmmaker's commentary tracks on DVD can also be inspirational  - Kevin Smith, Richard Linklater, etc. Or scifi - James Cameron, Spielberg, Ridley Scott, etc.

#49759 Star Wars Episode IV as a gif

awesome but Jabba should not have been in the first one.

#49744 my friends call me Mo, I'm a writer from New Zealand

Posted by MoWriter on 17 June 2013 - 01:57 AM in Introductions

Welcome.

Your list of movies is eerily similar to my own in many regards.

I was fairly certain that there were a few that only I had seen since any time I ever bring them up people look at me like I have two heads.

I know the feeling, I hope to get movie posters of most of them and line my walls with them. But I already have screenshot framed photos of Gummo and Henry Fool on my wall and hard to find posters for It's Such A Beautiful Day and Star Wars Uncut.

Yea, he could make a ultra creepy version. I'm in the middle of reading it, about 70 pages in.

yea the mall is pretty sweet, I think the doughnut king outside the warehouse closed, but I like Wendys. The lady there always recognises me and they have a pretty sweet selection. Good places to buy clothes and I like the chocolate shop. ebgames is cool too. I went to Whitireia (first year in Porirua, then 2 years at the cuba street campus) graduated in March 2011. Then started learning to draw and draw with computers at The Learning Connexion. Now I'm finishing a novel and trying to figure out what to do next (for money). I have a casual web design gig for a school, but it's not a weekly wage. I did some office admin work. But I'd really like to get a full time gig working behind the scenes in theatre - stage hand working up to production design. And do all my creative work in my off time. But I still have some issues to deal with before I can see that through.

I used to meet a guy I met at Armageddon at the Upper Hutt library to play Magic. but we lost contact a while back -  2008ish. Haven't played with anyone since. Even though I have a digital version of my deck so I'm all set to play online.

Cheers dude, I have been to Gisborne a few times with the fam, camping mostly and for the new millenium bash.

Yea Petone is pretty sweet. I'd love to get a place there. I mostly flat in Wellington city up by cuba street and I think mount vic.

I was living in lower hutt with fam, but they moved to wairarapa, so now I'm looking for a job so i can move back the hutt, or settle here. But I def plan trips back to the city.

None of Wes Craven's films are on my top favourite of all time list. But if Wes made a Stephen King story, and did a good job I would probably love it. Consider, then. What Stephen King story would make a great Wes Craven film?

Library Policeman with Kevin Bacon?
