#54414 What type of Wizard would you be?

Posted by mycroftgames on 06 September 2013 - 06:29 PM in Fantasy

I think this is a fascinating subject and I am glad you brought this up!

Personally I think that a creation wizard would be amazing. Especially with my imagination, being a green lantern sounds like a very fun way to destroy everything. Making giant zombie dinosaurs...no big deal (as long as you want giant red or blue dinosaurs). Imagine creating a giant pogostick to just leap over the enemy walls! Although after that, a necro wins by far.

a MMO Simcity takes out all that makes it a game. Now its just a big social server with some planning and waiting mixed together.

Terra Nova certainly had its share of issues... that said, I watched most of the episodes. I'd still take Terra Nova with its lack of dinosaurs and science, bad acting, and dumb plots over many other things that are currently on television. Hah.

That's because even with the faults it is better than most of the crap on television.

I agree, everything on tv is crap, except an occasional sci-fi or fantasy show. The only good channel is BBC and it has bad shows still.

#45674 Science Fiction books?

Posted by mycroftgames on 22 March 2013 - 10:00 PM in Sci Fi

2 authors that should be instantly mentioned, although probably pre-assumed:

Heinlein, my favorite is Starship Troopers, although I have read many and especially Double Star and Moon is a Harsh Mistress

Asimov, Foundation and Caves of Steel are MUST reads.

Other authors: Andre Norton, Orson Scott Card, Douglas Adams, Frank Herbert, ETC.

#45658 what to start with?

Posted by mycroftgames on 22 March 2013 - 03:19 PM in Fantasy

try Star Trek DS9, Merlin or Doctor Who, all three are awesome sci-fi fantasy

#45656 Brandon Sanderson!

Posted by mycroftgames on 22 March 2013 - 03:17 PM in Fantasy

Try reading Alkatraz vs. the Evil Librarians, its by Brandon Sanderson, but a COMPLETELY different feel. I could not stop laughing, different from the sci-fi fantasy adultish books of his.

Posted by mycroftgames on 22 March 2013 - 08:05 AM in Sci Fi

Thanks everyone!

NEW UPDATE: I would like it to be on netflix, although not required. Also I like instant play, but we do get discs.

Silver-Rose: We have tried Star-Gate, but I think we tried a bad episode. I am confused with there series's, If you suggest a better starting episode.

Thanks for the reviews, I would still like to have as many options as possible to try.

#45625 New Sci-fi series for my family

Posted by mycroftgames on 21 March 2013 - 09:48 PM in Sci Fi

Hi everyone,

I need a new sci-fi series that is not too violent, not much sex, contains good morals and/or has exciting plots that force you too watch more.

We love:

Star Trek: Voyager, DS9, Next Gen, some Enterprise, but no original (Mom and sister think they are too sexist :( and boring :o ) (I couldn't believe it)

Star Wars

Terra Nova

Doctor Who

Currently enjoying Merlin

We tried:

Firefly (Parents hated sex in 1st episode)

Battlestar Galactica (new version) (Killing the baby)

I know this is an odd assortment, I would like to try Firefly and Battlestar again, but maybe alone, or suggest a good episode to start with.

Any suggestions are helpful,

Mycroft

p.s. these are only the series's I can remember at the moment.

#45624 Terra Nova

Posted by mycroftgames on 21 March 2013 - 09:28 PM in Sci Fi

After watching all the shows... and the final hook... ITS CANCELLED!

Although it did not spend enough time on dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures, and the science was minimal, I really enjoyed it! It was very suspenseful and had well thought out plot lines that made the series one of the best sci-fi series's I have seen.

#45623 Any small game to suggest?

Posted by mycroftgames on 21 March 2013 - 09:20 PM in Video Games

under 100 mb??? that is not a lot of space!

I know that Thomas was alone, which has a wonderful story line is 400 mb. It is on steam and is only 5 dollars at the moment (deal ends on march 29). Other than that I suggest some free online games like heli-attack 3 or other games on miniclip, armor games or other sites. You might suffer with good plot and most are flash games.

Hope you find this helpful,

Mycroft
