#127762 Third person

Posted by Affray on 02 November 2022 - 04:50 PM in Video Games

Just Cause 3 is very good, I haven't played 4 and I've heard less than great things so I probably won't touch it for a while.

There's something insanely satisfying about super sandbox games that really let you fuck around and have fun.

That's about the same general idea that I tend to favour in games as well.

Though I can't pull any other games out of my head right now that hit those marks.

I've actually been leaning more toward simpler games over the past few years.

Probably because they're low stress activities in stressful times.

Interesting that you play Skyrim in third person, it never felt right to me.

If that's your jam my hot list would be Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and the Mass Effect Trilogy remastered.

What else do you play?

It's easier to recommend good stuff when I understand your style.

Also hardcover.

I've got big mitts and paperback books are always just a bit too small to be comfortably held for a few hours of reading.

I also prefer the way hardcovers look and sit on shelves and in stacks.

#127730 the robots won?

Posted by Affray on 23 September 2022 - 06:24 PM in Everything Else

I still check in from time to time when life permits, even if it's just to look at the wall of bots and wonder when in the flying fuck pop-up ads became a part of the landscape.

This place and you people have a cozy little spot in the back of my brain that I don't plan on getting rid of.

So long as I can come here I will.

It's actually kind of a nice surprise to show up and see a completely cleaned up main page with a new topic created by an actual human member.

I was here a few days ago and it sunk me a little bit to see things in that state, but it feels very good to know that more of us are still attached.

As weird as that sounds.

I was homeschooled.

So, the washing machine warranty book then?

As many as it takes I imagine.

To what end I have no idea.

Catcher in the Rye.

Anything by Shakespeare even though they are plays.

Why the fuck did I have to endure Macbeth twice?

#114616 Modern Shows

Velma is where it's at.

Intelligence has always grabbed my attention over physical appearance.

I like a tall redhead with attitude as much as the next guy, but Velma hits a chord with me.

Short, smart, cute instead of sexy, thick hips wrapped in a skirt and a turtleneck that she definitely wears to conceal an obviously considerable bust.

Sign me right the fuck up.

After typing that I've come to the realisation that I just described my wife.

Son of a bitch, I think Scooby Doo dictated my preferences in women.

#114410 Fast & Furious

I watched the first two then moved on with my life.

I've never been a car guy so all the tire squealing and fancy driving never really got my dick hard.

Then I kept hearing about the crazy nonsense bullshit that they got up to in each movie and it turned me off them even harder.

I only watch hentai porn as far as anime goes, so I'll just opt out and agree with Affray.

I never really got into cartoon characters banging each other, but to each their own.

It's going to date me, and I know it exists, but I'd only really be interested in Jane Jetson or Velma in that regard.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is pretty good, and it's the more accurate one to the manga.

The first one was completed before the manga finished I believe so they made up a lot of the latter half of the story, which isn't terrible, I just prefer Brotherhood.

Both are worth a watch though.

I also enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, though I came late to the party on that one so it wasn't new when I first watched it.

It didn't quite hit the bar that I set for it given how loved it is by internet people, but it is certainly very good.

I've been slacking on the anime front in recent years, adult life and all that jazz, but here's what I've seen that I thought was good in one way or another:

Hunter X Hunter

The Seven Deadly Sins

Attack on Titan

Kill la Kill

Parasyte

One Punch Man

Devilman Crybaby

Sword Art Online (though it has some weak points I still like it)

There are quite a few celebrities who donate money to Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Saint Jude's Hospital. People who donate money to individuals are a little bit lesser known, but one of those people is in fact Keanu Reeves. As far as meeting any of you in person, I would love to. The problem is that it would take me millions of years to travel to Earth.

I don't know if it would take you that long.

There's a lot of physics bending where you come from, I'm sure someone could make it happen faster.

And yet... not one of the millionaires or billionaires have become Batman...

Maybe none of them have a city worth saving.

I'm sure there are at least a handful of humane millionaires out there quietly doing good without any media coverage of it.

There are just way too many on the other side of the moral scale sucking everything dry to expand their obscene wealth.

Well I can assure you that if I find myself in a future situation where I've got more money than I know what to do with I'll be making it happen.

All expenses paid, booze and soft drugs if you're into that sort of thing, place to sleep, gift bag on your way out.

When I sat down and did the tallies a while back I realised that most of my millionaire fantasies are very other people-centric.

I want this get together.

I'd start businesses and hire coworkers from my life whom I feel deserve to be treated and paid well instead of shat on by companies, and they'd also be making me money but that's not the real goal if I'm loaded to the tits already.

Everyone in my immediate family would be getting a home and their debts wiped away, nieces and nephews would be set up for college (or a down payment on their own house if they don't do post secondary), that sort of stuff.

I am very aware of the struggle and drudgery of life in general and feel the need to alleviate as much of that weight from the people in my life wherever I can.

Tonnes of money would make that a very feasible achievement.

I haven't met anyone on this site in person, but you all seem like cool people I would love to hang out with. Except for the bots of course.

There have been quite a few members of this forum that I wish I knew in person.

One of my millionaire fantasies is hosting an annual meeting of the minds where I pay for everyone on this forum to fly their asses to my probably awesome woodland hideaway and hang out for a few days.

Pretty much in the same boat.

It's a pretty good boat to be in.

Street Fighter always pops to mind first for me.

I spent a lot of time in arcades mastering that business.

Mortal Kombat is also way up there in played hours but mostly at home with friends.

I was always more of a fantasy RPG guy so my fighting game catalogue isn't very robust.

#114299 Geothermal Heating/Cooling/Energy Storage

I know a lot of things about a lot of things, but geothermal energy isn't one of them.
