It looks really cool, I love the art style! Choose your own adventure stories are so fun to read too. I'm sorry I can't give any money (only 15 ^_^ ) but just wanted to say if you do publish this I'd buy it XD

I just watch a lot of Netflix mostly :D

I prefer the rain to really hot weather though, you can't get sunburnt by rain!

And of course another Brit! Gotta do something when it rains and it rains often....even in summer!

#108193 Your Opinion On Modern Kid's Films (More Context In My Post)

As for Aladdin, it'll be impossible to find someone who will surpass Robin Williams as the Genie but you never know, the actor they choose may still add a new and unique side to the character which could be interesting. I don't really mind about the race of the actors, it would be nice to include some people genuinely from Arabia but acting talent should be the main focus.

The visuals is one thing the Disney remakes all get right - the CGI and scenery is breathtaking to say the least.

I love David Bowie and think he would have been perfect in a Disney role - he was amazing in Labyrinth. I think the Moana villain, Tomatoa, was inspired in part by Bowie but it's not the same thing.

So, Doug pretty much sums up my opinion on this topic. I am very selective about what I will and won't watch, and I mostly watch kid's stuff.

I love Nostalgia Critic! In fact, his sibling rivalry videos inspired this post.

Money is money, basically. Things like Minions appeal to children, so of course they're going to cash in on that franchise as much as possible. I personally liked the Despicable Me movies, though I've not seen the third, nor Minions itself, so I can't say much on those. I can't say anything at all about Boss Baby or Sing, because I'm not that much of a kids movie-goer unless I get talked into going with my little one.

With regards to remakes I again can't say too much, though I'm curious as to why you believe them to be nothing but lazy remakes. Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty & the Beast were all well-received by critics and audience alike, and The Lion King isn't out for another two years, so I'm very curious as to how you can dub it a "lazy" remake.

Well, I thought they were lazy because many of the changes they made were purely stylistic rather than story-based. I know people liked that about them because the stories are classic but I thought either be daring and original with your storytelling or don't make a movie : leave the originals as is.

One example which particularly irked me personally was the whole gay angle they were spinning on Lefou because all he does is dance with a man and act in a really flamboyant way which most cartoon characters, especially villains/sidekicks, act like anyway. It was just a little disappointing when that had been one of the main selling points of the movie and one that distanced it from the 90's version.

As for why I dubbed The Lion King as lazy without seeing it, I just kind of put it in the same category as the others I have seen. Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book, Cinderella.  Stylistically pleasing and beautiful but without any added meat to the established story.

Sort of the same reasons you've written off the Ghost In The Shell film without seeing it, I'm not a fan of Disney remakes when they're not villainous retellings.

Not that I've seen GitS but still.

With the Emoji Movie soon coming over to the UK, I wanted to ask you, being nerds and film fans, do you think that movies are as original as they used to be?  Now that even Disney, one of the most beloved animation studios in the world, is following this trend, I'm starting to worry. I'm not talking about their films from the villain's pov, I think that's an interesting idea and well worth retelling a story for yet their shot by shot remakes (Cinderella, Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and now The Lion King) are lazy at best.

When animation studios get so much money off of completely boring, bland and stupid ideas like Minions, The Boss Baby and Sing, I can't help but shake my head in shame.

If you want to add anything to the points I've made here, whether it be argument or agreement, please comment below as I'm interested in your thoughts.

If you want me to expand on why I think any of the films in bold were boring or bland or less than interesting, I'm happy to do so. I've really only started the discussion here so I might add more if you have questions!

The Lostprincess, signing out ~

My personal fave is Belle because I can relate to her the most out of all the princesses. It's her passion for reading, adventure and not judging people based only on appearances that make her my favorite.  Although, I love them all!
