I had just gotten unloaded in Austin and was on my way northbound (about 5:30 in the morning?) and I saw all the lights in the south bound lanes. As I passed I noticed that there was a shitload of debris scattered all over the road, a police officer with his hands behind his head as if to try to pull himself together, the traffic was stopped completely (all three lanes of I35 were closed as were the frontage road lanes), and the barely recognizable frame of a motorcycle.
I still can't get to sleep.

So about a week or so ago my fleet manager called and said that the company I drive for is trying a new program with nifty bonuses, and being the needy kinda gal that I am I said yes and they proceeded to put me into a different truck this week.
Actually it ended up being two.
The first truck had a faulty DEF gauge in it and it turned out that the tank was empty when it said it was full and it ended up crapping out on me not fifteen miles into my San Antonio run, making that load late and I lost the load to an OTR driver because they had to tow my truck back to the terminal....
So then they said I wouldn't have a truck.
Then they called and said they did have a truck.
(Yep, that's my life in a nutshell...)
So I go to the terminal and look over the trucks that she gave me--one had a bad air system, one was MIA, and one had 24k miles on it.
Keep in mind that these are all older "high mileage" trucks, and by "high mileage" I'm talking 400-500 thousand miles. And that the average truck gets 10k miles per month put on it in companies like the one I work for.
I asked why there was so few miles on it and was told that it happens from time to time and trucks get pout on legal hold, etc, etc, etc....
So I was having a discussion with my nephew about DEF systems and ended up crawling around under the truck to see what kind of system was on the truck.
And I think I found the reason it was on legal hold.
For FOUR YEARS.
Along the passenger side of the truck there is some hair and black gooie stuff and chunklets and I stuck my finger in it and it was rubbery and I really need a large glass of rum right now.
