You know.... the thing that really gets me about this sign is that it doesn't just say "casualties" it says "unexpected casualties" implying that there are expected casualties that are not counted against the safety record.

But if you're not charismatic and good at speaking in public, people aren't going to listen to you. What happens if he becomes president and some shit goes on in congress or wherever, and his only input is a bit of meek, quiet disagreement? He's going to be railroaded because he appears to lack a backbone.

From the looks of things, if you're after a puppet president, Bernie's who you want.

How the hell do you figure? You are saying he is weak, and even that he has been weak in the debates.

What debates were you watching? He is extremely vocal about what he believe in. The only thing I can assume you are talking about is how he doesn't attack other candidates directly, rather he attacks their policies which is how politics is SUPPOSED to work. Decisions should be made based on who has the better ideas and more effective plans for implementing those ideas, not based on who can slander their opponent the best.

You have so much faith in the US public. >.>

I don't see Clinton winning, even many democrats aren't a fan of her.

I'm hoping it ends in a gladiator style deathmatch where Bernie gets to deliver the killing blow after Trump is mercilessly attacked by an eagle.

Id watch that.

Also I agree, Bernie is a much more viable candidate than Hilary.  A fair number of democrats likely wouldnt vote or even vote accross the aisle rather than vote for her.

I am actually a little scared at the prospect of a trump presidency. Really hope my extended family is not an accurate indicator of the intelligence level of the nation

I don't think there is a line anymore.

The football players when I went to high school were all D&D players who loved anime, the hockey players were mostly rednecks who were friends with everyone, and cheerleading didn't exist because apparently Canadian high school sports don't need that shit.

Well the whole skimpy outfits and freezing weather didn't really mesh too well.

#97185 Lets talk about democracy

Posted by Krankykoala on 18 November 2015 - 04:25 PM

(first real post)

So Im 19 years old and living in Germany. I noticed that I dont care who is in charge and what will happen to anything. It is not about that my vote wont change anything ( it wouldnt) Its about how every party does nearly exactly the same.By example back in 2011 when Fukushima happened (allready 4 years wtf) nobody wanted nuclear power plants anymore. So every party changed their opinion about power plants. why do we need so many parties if all of them just do what everyone does. In my opinion a party should do what is best for the country more often and not what the public wants. What do you think?

Well the issue with TRUE democracy is that the majority is not always right, and the majority tend to oppress the minority.(this is not ALWAYS a bad thing, but is more often than not)

What you actually have is a democratic republic. You don't vote for federal issues on your own, rather you elect officials who vote on issues. This is a system that is more protected from the oppression of the majority, but can still fall prey to it. Unfortunately pandering is a popular tactic to build support.

My sons are as old as you are.  Just a few tidbits for thought.  Your age group outnumbers the age groups for the rest of the world.  Chew on that.  If you dont believe in something..  change it.  YOU have the power to change.  One vote matters.  One voice matters.  Join groups of like minded people.  EDUCATE yourselves on the matters that are important to you.

Today, most people are becoming "sheeple".  Its easy to follow what the news media feeds you.  I cant stress this enough..  EDUCATE yourself.

You have the power.  Not me..  not my generation..  YOU!

This is absolutely true. I will admit my political knowledge on Germany is lacking, but you should look for some way to get involved in local politics if this interests you. There are many internships you can apply for, or volunteer work you can do for a campaign. The biggest part of this is defining what is important to you, and finding politicians you can support who are interested in similar goals to yourself.

"Democracy doesnt work and monarchy is a nogo after hitler."

Yep, because Germany under Hitler was a Monarchy.

Yep.

Or you could not be a twat and explain to him what is wrong with his statement.

I want to change, I do know how.  But to what? Democracy doesnt work and monarchy is a nogo after hitler. Maybe Anarchy but people are assholes.... I feel like i can only decide between pest and cholera. i would suggest a mix between monarchy and democracy but that is like the system germany had before hitler and it ended in... well hitler. The Problem is not the change. The problem is the search for a system that will work and keeps working.

Democatic republics can work, but it requires that you have good candidates to vote for, and that people vote for someone who will have the best interests of the country and her people at heart.

Under Hitler, Germany was run as a fascist authoritarian dictatorship, with Hitler in place as a dictator.

Fascism is the far extreme of nationalism, in essence it means that the people exist to further the goals of the governing body, rather than the government existing to better the lives of its people. Nearly everything in a fascist state is regulated by the governing body.

Authoritarianism means that the government is viewed as the ultimate authority, and any deviance to the norms set by the governing body can expect to be punished. A dictatorship is a form of authoritarianism in which there is a supreme leader, who holds power through ensuring he has no political rivals. Propaganda, and military power tend to be the main tools used to maintain authority under a dictatorship.
