#91278 What kind of people do nerds end up marrying?

You're being such a non-pillow right now!

The shitty art on that pillow makes it so much better.

#91179 Girl talk

Posted by SushiKitten on 07 May 2015 - 11:25 AM

I follow this super cute girl on twitter, like she was absolutely gorgeous and secretly every time she posted a selfie or photo of herself I got a little jealous. I'm on the edge between normal and overweight BMI and I've been trying hard to fall on the normal side of the fence, and seeing her photos made me wish I could look so good.

I couldn't believe it though when a couple weeks ago she said she had a lot of body image issues and she hated how she looked. I told her my secret about my bouts of jealously and we ended up making huge replies to eachother that we basically had to screenshot and send as an image because twitter isn't really the place for long discussions.

Girls have so much standards thrust upon them, and it doesn't help that we're socially brought up to be competitive with other girls and always compare ourselves. Now it's popular to be body positive, set all that aside and feign that you actually love yourself after years of advertisements saying you're never good enough. Self acceptance is a long road and a never ending journey. I'm trying my best to get there, but we just got to go one step at a time.

We have a lot of very talented people around here, so I thought it'd be nice to follow people's art/writing/creativity.

I'm still learning but I've been putting more effort into my art since January: http://leafadoodles.deviantart.com

#90880 Girl talk

Isn't in? Pale alabaster skin can be just as lovely as an olive tanned cutie. I'm into it more, probably. Dunno why. Seems lickable.

Is this girl talk? Legs and wigs and dresses? What about corsets and fishnets? Can that be girl talk? I like those. They good.

Also, Neko-chan, why is it Prince gets a senpai added? I demand to be called oniisama from each one of you fuckers.

Because Blood-senpai's drawings are like magic.

Pale skin is absolutely beautiful! I'd rather have pale skin than tanned anyday. I wear it like a badge of my shut-in tendences. :P

Blood: There's this chick on my facebook that wears different wigs casually and she looks so fucking cool, I'd like to try it out for a while.

As for dresses: I have lots but I always feel like I need more. I might buy a cheaper lolita dress for the steampunk/lolita picnic happening next month.

#90644 Is That A Banana?

Posted by SushiKitten on 23 April 2015 - 08:32 PM

What the hell sort of periods are you having?

You might want to see a doctor.

Ahaha well I figure if I ever have to use them at the same time, I'm sure the first aid kit will be for someone else. :P

Actually I was fairly excited last week, I've carried around that first aid kit for two years and I've never had to use it until last Thursday when one of the kids in my class got a papercut. I really had to hide my excitement when I pulled out a bandaid.

Wow Elf you can fit a lot in your purse!

I used to carry a lot on me a couple months ago, I wanted to be prepared for anything to the point where I was carrying everything from my keys to a novel to read to an umbrella in case it rained. Eventually it got way too out of hand (like five minutes fishing around for my wallet at the store, it was like a freaking bag of holding). So I bought a smaller bag and downsized to things I use on a daily basis.

Spoiler

Planner

Sketch book

Pen, Pencil, Eraser

Wallet

An extra card holder because I'm a sucker for those dumb point collecting cards

Lip balm

Keys

Tanuki Flash Drive (Mostly for the kids' games)

iPod and phone

And my bus pass which I keep in an easy to reach pouch instead of my wallet

(Not shown: a first aid kit and a tampon. You know, for emergencies)

#89550 Game Development

Posted by SushiKitten on 30 March 2015 - 03:04 PM

Hey!

I actually teach children how to make video games part time! What we use for the most part is a program called Stencyl, which is a 2D game engine that doesn't require programming experience, though it doesn't hurt to have it. It's free and pretty easy to figure out. The community is small but they're super active and are willing to help with any problems you run into (and I don't mind answering questions either). Here is a link to the sticky topic on Stencyl.

If you're actually interested in learning how to program, I haven't used Unity myself, though I'm planning two during the next Ludum Dare in April. My dad picked up Unity with no programming experience and was pretty successful with it. Unity has their own tutorials you can follow to make all sorts of stuff. He made a huge mountainous terrain with a hidden village that you have to find.

I'm writing a blog post right now on hobby game development, I'm nearly done, just adding pictures. I'll link it when I'm finished. :)

#89178 THE DEPRESSION THREAD

Posted by SushiKitten on 22 March 2015 - 11:40 AM

Thanks guys, I spoke to him and he didn't have much to say for himself. He seems remorseful but I've been through this before and I'm just going to spend a few days at a friend's to try to sort things out.

You guys are all so awesome and I'm so glad and lucky to have friends like you. I hope you guys have a good Sunday, I won't be letting something like this ruin my weekend, heh

#88793 A Canadian, a Lutheran Preacher, and A Lamia slither into a bar...

Posted by SushiKitten on 13 March 2015 - 10:40 AM

I was raised catholic. I went through CCD, confraternity of christian doctrine (K-12) That includes baptism, first communion, confession, and being confirmed. Not every Christian is a good one, but not all are as blind. I believe in a higher power. I don't believe we just crawled out of the water.. But I dont believe we just appeared either.. I believe that I have no idea how we started, but I do believe in a checks and balances in our lives (karma) and with karma, there must be something keeping the balance (mother nature). How else would life work so perfectly (even with humans messing it up). One day will get too big for our Britch and either figure out how to leave, or die out like other masters of the world.. I mean the world has been going for sooooo long, there's no way we are staying boss. Maybe we will go up in a rocket like the pictures say.. And that's how humans always restart.. That would be rad!! All I know is that there is a lot we don't know.. I DONT agree with Christians that claim the name (Christian) but aren't christ-like which is the point of Christianity. Like the whole point, to walk in the foot steps of Christ. Christ was a free thinker, and a teacher of kindness, selfless acts, and had no want for the huge churches, money, or power (apparently some missed that part in the bible, bad Christians) Like I said I believe in a higher being, and I believe Christ (Jesus Christ) was a human, not perfect, or godly.. So I don't consider myself a Christian.

It really sucks when the loud, pushy (and wrong) minority really ruin something. It's why I shy away from labeling myself as a feminist. Not all Christians are as bad as this guy. I've met way more awesome, kind, and open Christians than I've met bad ones. Anyone who tries to push their beliefs and values on someone else, whether it's faith or political or whatever, they're friggin' assholes.

#88781 A Canadian, a Lutheran Preacher, and A Lamia slither into a bar...

Posted by SushiKitten on 13 March 2015 - 06:42 AM

So, I heard about this guy arguing with a preacher. He mentioned making a thread to tell the story, and I don't know if he did. The guy might be making one right now. I dunno.

Also, from the context I understood who Shawn was. Just wanted to say that. Doesn't really add anything, only making things clear.

Related story, an uncle of mine used to invite a group of roving Jehovah Witnesses into his house each week for a theological debate. First time he actually read the book was just so he could argue about it. That pretty much sums up that side of my family. We will argue against or for anything, even if we don't believe it, just to have conflict.

The Stones are dickbags.

I had no idea what you were talking about until Affray posted his story. I thought this thread was supposed to not make sense, where's the punchline? Who argued with a preacher? Who the fuck is Shawn? And The Rolling Stones are dickbags? I was already planning out three paragraphs that had no relation whatsoever to follow along.

Affray, what an asshat, yo. When I get married, unless the person I marry is super religious I'm thinking of doing the same thing as you. I hope I don't run into a preacher that's as pushy as this guy. Good on you though. I would've walked out halfway through.

#88723 Elfin Lied

Posted by SushiKitten on 12 March 2015 - 10:51 AM

I watched it a few years ago, marathoned it at home. Then showed it to a friend and we marathoned it together at her house, who then showed it to another friend, and they marathoned it together.

Anyway my friend's sister is still bitter about me showing my friend this series because she had to listen to the opening I don't know how many times. We start to sing it to bother her sometimes
