Do you have a gmail account? Read this... You'll be amazed.

Hey I have not been on here for a while, curse work!

If you have a google account for g+ or gmail, or even youtube, then you might have noticed the whole "We have changed our privacy policy". What does that mean?
Since I hate reading like anyone else I won't go much into detail here, but did you ever notice that when you are logged into your google account the searchengine itself knows which sites you have been visiting and when?

So for laughs, go to http://www.google.com/history

See what I mean? But do not worry, incase you dislike the thought that google keeps recording every embarassing bit of your surfing attitude (why would someone not want to have their habits recorded by a huge company? :D ) you can erase the timeline. Also that will stop recording until you turn it on again. Google does this apparently to refine the search results but heh, I am good thanks.

So yeah, you decide what to do with this.

Pineapple Smash Crew

I have Desura installed on my Windows and sometimes a interesting Indie games pop up on the frontpage, so today I noticed a game that looked interesting to me because of its oldschool charme..."PINEAPPLE SMASH CREW" which I bought tonight (also available on Steam).

Its inspired by Cannonfodder, the classic Amiga and PC game where you had to click a squad of soldiers over a map, killing anything in the way with your guns and grenades.
I say inspired because the game draws some ideas from it while still being its very own kind. Imagine one of these oldschool 2D top down games where you had to roam a spaceship or facility, destroying enemies, robots and defensive weaponry. The game states that the levels are being generated new each time, so if that is true it literally has unlimited replay value.
Now you command your little squad of 4 soldiers with the WASD keys, targetting with the mouse... As stated before, grenades are important in this game, many enemies are tough as nails and the only way to effectively get to them is by using grenades (which also come in different flavours, one rocket coming up! Who ordered the proximity mine?)

Another sensation (in my ears at least) is the music, oldschool chiptunes are heard and also the soundeffects are very C64 inspired, while never being cheap. Its vintage at its best. Too bad there is no demo (yet), but if you like oldschool games like Cannonfodder or (to an extent) Paradroid the you will like this game most probably.

Any experiences with 3D prototyping software?

01 February 2012 - 02:52 PM

I need to make some models for prototypes, its a work thing (nothing really particularly interesting for us but secret still, so sorry that I can not go into detail lol), fairly simple shape.

Now the guy at the printing company tells me that its too small (I made it in METERS because it was too small the last time, now it comes out right for me in C4D but again NOT for the guy at the printing facility). He is helpful, but I somehow start to doubt we speak the same binary language lol. Also while I made some things as boxes, all he sees are faces... and faces are apparently not printable as they have to be solid objects or something. :/ But I KNOW that I made rectangles...

Yes I use Blender, but I imported it into Meshlab and it "looked" right. Also in Cinema 4D its correct (Not that I use it ever, just for checking these things).

Making Music?

28 January 2012 - 06:34 AM

Does anyone here play instruments or make music?

I play a LITTLE guitar, haven't done for ages so I probably forgot more then I ever learned... Ukulele is my weapon of choice now at the moment since last year. I also own an old Casio keyboard (one of these toythings from the ninties, still a fun device) and I make tracks in computer programs with virtual synthesizers sometimes. Just playing around mostly.

Syndicate

I am kinda curious how they pull this off, I have been playing the original game (even bought it back then as a kid, geez! An Amiga game! With money! :D ), I played Syndicate Wars (too dark for my taste, I liked the original artstyle better) and now this... a tactical shooter. Either this is going to be totally bold, or utter bullshit.

Everything sounds 3x more badass with Skrillex.
