#16428 Where did Life come From?

Posted by Relichris on 29 July 2012 - 03:40 PM

I don't think we are supposed to ever know, because it would ruin the concept of life. And take away the never ending mystery. Everything has to start somewhere, but the thing is, if we can't comprehend infinity, then we will never comprehend life. All because life is infinite, and there never was a start. If there was a start, then all you have to say is: "Where did that come from?" And we're back to square one.

We are not capable of or meant to comprehend life. If we were able to, I don't think there would be any life at all. As there would be no consiousnous beyond nothing. As the start, is after all, nothing. And nothing, is infinite.

That's my theory. I don't think there was/is a god. Because what was before god? Well, there was nothing. And again, nothing is infinite, and we can't comprehend infinity. Therefore we can't comprehent life.

PS, I may have changed my view slightly over this last post. But as I thought more. I evolved my theory.

This is proof that evolution occurs in theories too.

People who don't know grammar, oh and double negatives.  If you don't know what "your" to use, go back to school.  Hell, if you can't even complete a full sentence, just go to hell.  Don't pass GO or collect $200 or even a diploma.  Just go to hell.

When people use the phrase "my brain just works differently".

You're not a goddamn snowflake.

Everyone's brain works differently or we'd all be doing the exact same thing at the exact same time all the damn time.

I'm a snowflake.  You lick me and I disappear.

#15627 Batman Shooting

Posted by Relichris on 20 July 2012 - 12:13 PM

It's true that it's a sad story and very tragic, and while I don't particularly like guns (but I'm in the military so I use them for training purposes), I wouldn't exactly come out and say BAN GUNS.  Because I don't blame the guns for killing people.  I blame the ones who use them for selfish reasons.  And I wouldn't blame the media either.  It was that guy's choice to shoot and kill those 15 people, no matter what the reasons were.  He chose to take out his aggression in a negative and violent manner.  Maybe people should learn to think "Oh wow, that guy in the movie just killed that guy in the back of the head.  I'll steer away from that." instead of "Oh shit, that was cool, I want to do that!".  Granted, not everyone will think that way and that's great.  But unfortunately there are people like that and they won't go away simply by banning guns.

#15598 Relichris' Reviews #1 ~ The Dark Knight Rises

Posted by Relichris on 20 July 2012 - 04:35 AM

Hello there!  Welcome to my first installment into reviews, which will be either movies, tv shows, video games, music, and/or any media you can think of.  And today is a great day for me.  Anticipation, suspense, thrills, and finally, accomplishment.  Today, July 20th, 2012, marks the day that The Dark Knight Rises comes to theatres everywhere and I'm grateful to have it be my first review.  So let's get underway!

Now, I'm a huge fan of Batman and I'm really loyal to how he and his characters are interpreted in the correct way.  What I mean by that is, they must follow true to their character as they were portrayed in the comics.  No matter if they seem real or not, I believe that anything can be possible as long as you have the will to act.  Which is also a crucial theme in the first iteration of Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman Begins.  So let's look at characters first.

Characters

As we know, Bane and Catwoman are the villains of The Dark Knight Rises.  But there are some other original characters that were conjured up in the movie (or so we thought), such as Miranda Tate and John Blake.  But let's start off with the character Batman/Bruce Wayne.  In this movie, he has a stronger portrayal of who he is as a man, and as a legend.  In the story, Batman has long since been retired for 8 years.  So upon coming out of retirement, he needs conditioning.  But all things considered, he's just as great as he was in The Dark Knight.  Fast, strong, smart, and most of all, adaptable.  It wasn't Batman that stole the show though.  It was Bruce Wayne.  He's broken down, burdened from the loss of Rachel Dawes and Harvey Dent.  He has secluded himself because of such, and walks around with a cane from the toll of being Batman.  Really, really emotional but really, really great.  But there are lessons to be learned, such as overcoming fear and realizing the legend that Batman has to be.  It's really inspiring.  So let's move on to Bane, who is first introduced and shows how maniacal and menacing he is.  He's very intricate, while being very straightforward with how he does things.  And that is complete and utter destruction.  He's out to break the Bat and destroy Gotham.  Before, I just thought that they made him out to be just some guy that wants to destroy things, which really, that's what he is but I didn't think they would bring up his prison background and such.  And I was blown away by how great they did Bane.  Though his voice was sometimes hard to understand but I blame that on the audience that was watching because they were sometimes a little loud, and the fact that I wasn't close enough to the screen.  Anyway, Bane was just utterly awesome and true to the character.  And that goes the same for Catwoman.  I had absolutely no problem with Anne Hathaway being Catwoman.  She was excellent.  The character was more or less spot on.  She was elegant, seductive, intelligent, and very agile.  She was out for herself and herself only, unless it came to Batman or (I believe) Holly Robinson, who as you might or might not know, is her closest friend.  Miranda Tate was a nice addition, as she was on the Board of Directors for Wayne Enterprises.  Some speculated, for the last 8 months, that the character was actually Talia Al Ghul, who is the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul.  But I won't say much about that.  John Blake was a nice character as well.  Tough character, often called hot-headed.  Typical pro-Batman cop so he's more or less like Jim Gordon.  Anyway, next is the plot.

Story

Well as I've said, it takes place 8 years after the Harvey Dent incident, aka The Dark Knight.  Starts off with the released Prologue, which is basically Bane's introduction and acquisition of an essential plot character.  That sets the groundwork for Catwoman (who is actually never called Catwoman, fyi) to show off her skills.  That sets off Bruce to don the cape and cowl again in order to stop Bane from unleashing his onslaught.  As you can see, I don't want to spoil much of the story so I expect you to trust me (but you are open to disagree with me, once you've seen the movie),  the story is pretty good.  It comes full circle from Batman Begins.  Almost everything ties into BB and TDK.  The stage was set before BB even began.  And it all comes to an awesome, yet bittersweet conclusion.  I actually had chills in the last 15-20 minutes of the movie.  I was like wow, this is truly amazing.

Conclusion

Honestly, I don't know what else to say.  I'm probably not too good at reviews but I hope you guys like it.  The special effects were great, the details were awesome no matter how small there were, and the characters do come together.  I honestly had no problems with this movie like I did with the last two.  The characters were as close to their comic counterparts as they are gonna get.  There are some humorous parts of the movie that will make you think "how ironic" and "I laughed way too hard at that".  It's gonna happen.  So I hope you enjoy this movie, and I hope you enjoy this review.  So go out and see it!

I give this movie a 10/10.
