Thoughts on this?

I think it's an interesting move. It does give weight to the fact that he's not had a love interest (not really anyway). I still want him to get with Beth after that episode they had together but I'd be ok with the move.

I don't care as long as he stays alive

What are your thoughts on the casting? 

I've read Maisie Williams and Josh Brolin are fan favourites for the role of Joel and Ellie. Troy Baker, the voice of Joel in the game has even been quoted to say he was doing a 'Josh Brolin' type voice when he recorded for the game.

As great as Maisie Williams is in Game Of Thrones (Arya Stark) and being a fellow Brit I have quite a lot of bias towards her, I think the reason why she's been tipped for the role of Ellie is because of the relationship between Arya and the Hound in GOT is a very similar to that of Joel and Ellie. I think GOT was her first ever acting role, I'd be interested to hear her American accent.
